AIBU to ask about Hugglescote near Loughborough?

Not unreasonable at all really, but posting here for traffic.
My husband has been offered a new job in Loughborough so will be moving to area. We are considering the area of Hugglescote as it seems semi-rural and not too far from Loughborough. I know that it is in the town of Coalville which I know is hardly up and coming, not a problem as intend to go to Leicester and Loughborough quite a bit.
We have a dog so want lots of places to go walking. I've got two boys aged 12 and 8. We're looking at Primary schools, Ellistown and Hugglescote. Does anybody have any knowledge of these schools?
Also, Newbridge High for the secondary. All are listed as 'good' by OFSTED.
I'm from Reading in the South and thing of Coalville as being like a Thatcham, a tiny town with no much going on, few shops so most people go to places like Reading and Newbury for shopping, evenings out etc. That doesn't bother me too much.
Any advice, much appreciated.

Morning!
It’s a lovely area, Loughborough & surrounding areas.
Don’t have experience of Hugglescote as you say it’s more Coalville way. I live in one of the Loughborough villages and it’s lovely. Not from here originally but have settled well. Try look at places like Quorn, Rothley, Sileby, Mountsorrel, Cossington, Seagrave, Walton, Barrow upon Soar etc. Lots are quiet little villages, very picturesque so you do need to go to Loughborough or Leicester for shopping/nightlife/most things. Good luck with your move!

Thanks so much MrsSalvatore1. A very positive post. I will definitely look into the places mentioned.

Hugglescote is a lovely village but has unfortunately basically been swallowed up by Coalville, which is a genuinely unpleasant place.

Be aware that Hugglescote is basically Coalville and go into it with your eyes open.

Avoid Coalville! Much nicer places near Loughborough...as mentioned above, closer to Leicester as well Smile

No that side isn't nice at all.

It's not so much that Coalville "doesn't have much going on", it's that it's genuinely deprived with poor educational outcomes, high crime (and incest!) and quite a violent town centre.

Loughborough is ok, Shepshed isn't bad and there are lots of pretty (pricey) villages around. But I would start at schools and affordability and go from there.

Leicestershire has middle schools from 11-14, which is weird. High schools are mostly dreadful unless you go private or go across the Nottingham border.

Most of the schools have changed now to 11-16 or 11-18 I think. Barrow is a nice size village with stuff going on, Quorn a bit pricier. I don't know about schools though.
