To have the heating on all day?

Our house is cold, DDs room barely gets above 14 degrees and lower at night.

Should I turn the boiler down and have the heating on minimum all day? Or higher temp for an hour or so? Neither seems to improve much, and I’m wondering on cost as well.

What do you all do? Before the DC we were out at work all day but now we are home more.

I've found it's better to have it on lower 24/7. When I tried leaving it off in the day it took hours to get warm again.

If I'm cold it goes on. I wfh two days a week, it's on pretty much al the time when it's cold. Our summer usage end out the cost.

You need to ensure your house has as much insulation as feasible. I've lived in various properties and the ones with better insulation have lower heating bills as they don't need the heating on all day.

Floors walls furniture carpet they all absorb heat, so if your heating is off for periods of time the rooms lose that heat from all surfaces, when the heating goes on its then trying to warm those surfaces again so in my opinion you are better having it low and constant than on and off, if you have thermostats on your rads you should be able to set these to go on and off when the room reaches the desired temperature, also as others say you do need to check you have at least 250mm insulation in your loft space and you have no holes and have cavity wall insulation if your property has cavities,

Mine is never off all year round. If it goes below 21.5 then it comes on. I have Hive on my phone so I boost it as well. I hate being cold.
