Apparently sports direct trainers aren't suitable for wearing in mud

I've just tried to return some as the sole fell apart and was told "but they've got mud in them, they're not suitable for wearing in mud"

My colleague bought some trainers from Sports Direct that broke after about two months of weekend wear. They refused to take them back as it was past 28 days. Not acceptable IMO. He wasn't taking them back because he changed his mind, he was taking them back as unfit for purpose.
