Credit check - is this a GDPR breach?

My OH applied for a business loan at the end of August, the loan was in the business name, and his details. I have carried out a credit report / score for myself today, (I do one every 3 months or so).

The loan company has carried out a credit check against me in August, October and November.

I'm not associated to the business, nor was my name on any of the application forms.

My OH and I own our home together as tenants in common. So we do have 'financial association'.

I now have three 'hard' credit checks on my file for a finance application that is nothing to do with me.

Is this a GDPR breach? The loan provider now holds financial information about me that I didn't grant permission for.

Our financial broker is trying to get to the bottom of this but I'm not very confident.

It's normal practice to do an associate search. Ex hubby had a loan 8 years after we split and it came up on my search history. Apparently financially we'll be split after 9 years.

I suspect not a breach. parking eye recently did one against me.....I’m still disputing a parking charge notice from 4 years ago. I made enquires and was told they can do this.

So parking eye now hold info about me I didn’t give them permission to have. Seems wrong they can do this.

Are you absolutely certain that your husband hasn’t attempted to take anything out in your name?

Three months worth of credit checks makes no sense for a loan they’d already agreed and paid out on...

Arnold this was for a business loan that I have no association to, nor was our home being used as guarantee.

@ @QueenofPainI saw the paperwork as he asked me to look over it. We're not married.

He declined the loan.

My concern is the three credit checks over three months too.

I'd say he'd applied for a loan in your name.

Why did he apply for a loan and then decline it? Did you see the loan offer?

Curious

Queenie8 · 19/11/2019 18:14

@NotSuchASmugMarriedNow1it was definitely a business loan, and my name was not on the paperwork, nor do I have any association with the business.

The terms of the loan were unsuitable and we're in the process of borrowing the money against the house in joint names, with a different financial service but the same broker.
