Dog poo in autumn

RollercoasterCoaster · 18/11/2019 17:54

AIBU to think someone needs to invent something to change the colour of dog poo in autumn.

15 minutes i stood in the park today searching for my dogs brown poo among all the brown leaves.

On one occasion before I’ve picked up a handful of leaves because I’ve searched for ages and not been able to spot it and didn’t want people to think I was just walking off and leaving it Blush

At least you attempt to find it. Unlike the majority of dog owners on my street, which is a constant dog sh** obstacle course, made 100x harder by the leaves and darkness.

Leolion09 · 18/11/2019 20:22

Yes! I had the exact same thing the other day he loves to have a good dance about after and I'm not quick enough to get there in time and they just disappear!
I spent over 15 minutes hunting eventually found one, not convinced it was his but pay it forward! Such a pain! Glitter is a great idea

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 18/11/2019 20:30

All joking aside, please don’t feed them glitter, even the so called edible stuff is dangerous for animals, including wildlife because of the additives. Anyone that could create a special, safe supplement for dogs would make a fortune. Where there’s muck there’s money. 😁

The white dog poo was because the dogs were feed a more natural diet and the extra bones would cause the poo to be white. Great to spot in the dark but can crumble apart which makes it hard to pick up.

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 18/11/2019 20:31

not convinced it was his but pay it forward! Such a pain! Grin yup, I’ve done that. Though cold poo from an unknown dog makes me boak, even though I’ve a pet sitting business. Difference is, I know these dogs.

Bringonspring · 18/11/2019 20:37

Oh my goodness I had forgotten about white god poo

definitelyshouldknowbetter · 18/11/2019 20:37

@RollercoasterCoaster oh I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to sound snarky! At least you tried! I was just pissed off last week because I didn’t spot it till he’d trodden it through the living room

Alsohuman · 18/11/2019 20:56

I can deal with cold poo, the warmth turns my stomach.

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 18/11/2019 20:58

Oh my goodness I had forgotten about white god poo

Well that’s a tad racist. What makes the white god’s Poo so special?

😁

BerwickLad · 18/11/2019 21:09

Season of brown and suspect fruitfulness
Close bosom friend of the mature dog's bum
Conspiring with him how to shit and mess
The leaves that do around the children's playpark run

QuiltingFlower · 18/11/2019 22:12

Can’t you smell it?

DontMakeMeShushYou · 18/11/2019 22:21

Can’t you smell it?

What? Crawl around snuffling through the leaves like a hedgehog?

QueenoftheDay · 18/11/2019 22:26

I accept this is lighthearted but I have no sense of humour on this issue tonight after a particularly filthy walk home from school eyes four year olds school shoes 👀

No excuses. Look until you find it.

Lifeover · 18/11/2019 22:29

My dog has the ability to carefully match the shade of her poo to the particular leaf she had chosen to shit on. It’s even better when you’re using a torch.

Defo done the pick up a pile of leaves in the poo bag thing

NotTheMrMenAgain · 18/11/2019 22:34

T0tally "creepy, furry perverts" GrinGrinGrin. So my dog only poos at home, in the privacy of her own garden - but it's still a bugger to find it. Today I scooped what turned out to be muddy leaves and managed to step in the poo I was looking for - I hadn't put wellies on either and was wearing suede boots. That'll teach me.

My dog is fed a raw food diet, which contains ground up bones, which mean her poo does go white when it dries out. No help when it's been so rainy though.

LittleChicken11 · 18/11/2019 22:42

Sweet corn in their food can do the same job as glitter! (Not corn on the cob though as that can cause blockage)

pigsDOfly · 19/11/2019 13:31

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily I don't think anyone on here is seriously thinking of feeding their dog glitter.

And as far as smelling it goes, for the pp who asked, my dog is fed on a good quality low fat food and unless you actually stick you nose right near it, her poo has very little odour.

I would definitely have to crawl on the ground to find it by smell. I'm conscientious about picking up my dog's poo but I draw the line at crawling across a muddy park.

motherheroic · 19/11/2019 16:24

@QuiltingFlower My dog eats raw so no smell and very small size.

Eckhart · 19/11/2019 18:18

Yes, it's almost impossible. It's very frustrating because I can't bear owners who don't pick up poo. I've been known to pick up a random, cold, stranger-dog's poo if I can't find the one my dog left, to try to balance things out.

I've also not been able to find my dog's poo, and then stood in it. Which seems just, but infuriating.

Flouncysinatra · 19/11/2019 19:37

Had this exact problem today! And did the same as you op (picked up random leaves). To be fair it was pretty “off piste” so unlikely to be trod in - still felt awful.

And don’t even get me started on him going on leaves, in the dark... I carry a torch literally for finding the poo.

Zooforhouse · 19/11/2019 19:43

My dog walker told me today that my dogs poo was bright blue. He’d eaten a wax crayon. Could try that 😂

I go round sniffing like a demented bloodhound. Hate poo hunting in the autumn.
