The creepy **** on the shelf

I make no apologies for my anger towards 'Elf on the shelf'. I absolutely loathe the creepy thing and I don't quite know where the hatred stems from. Maybe I have unresolved childhood issues or maybe I have a deep burning love for him- it's a mystery.
I want the whole 'tradition' to turn back round and disappear.
Does anyone want to come to therapy with me that shares similar hatred- it will be cheaper.

It wasn’t a big thing when DD was little and cost a fortune so I just got a little elf toy from somewhere and used it the week before Christmas, DD loved it. Now she actively avoids the creepy little git in every shop we go to - she thinks he’s a friend of Chucky!

Iwantacookie · 17/11/2019 22:54

Ahh I'm so glad my dc are too old for the elf. I must admit by about the 4th night he may of left home.

ChorleyFMcominginyourears · 17/11/2019 22:57

From what I see my social media is full of it and mainly for the likes rather than their actual children! I cant stand it and my kids dont want it which is fine by me since I could not be arsed!

Inthemoment38 · 18/11/2019 10:14

Agree. Loathe them. It also makes me cringe when I see those supposedly funny rude/ sexy elf set ups eg elf in Barbie's hot tub with topless or elves in sex positions.

Cringe, puke, just NO. Unnecessary, creepy made up tradition and more plastic crap for landfill

Whattodoabout · 18/11/2019 11:08

I bought one about six years ago before it was popular. I can’t believe how much it has blown up over the past couple of years. Honestly, I didn’t know a single soul who had even heard of it when I first started it.

I regret starting it now, the DC obviously expect it and I always forget the move the fucker before bed Grin.

I just think it is yet more work for mums to do. As if we haven't enough already.

BIWI · 18/11/2019 11:52

Nothing wrong with typing the actual word though even though clearly I missed the point of the title!

EerieSilence · 18/11/2019 11:57

Everytime we are in a toy shop, DD gleefully points at the display of different Fuckelves on the shelf because she knows I will go on a rant.
I hate that fucking stalker with passion unseen. He's up there with the Chucky and the Annabelle doll.

Iceburglettuce · 18/11/2019 16:34

@Inthemoment38 yep, totally agree with the cringe factor there 🤮
