My sons girlfriend is pregnant. I’m only 38 and feel too young to be called grandma. AIBU to ask them to call me gags?

What made you think of Gags in the first place? It’s such an odd choice. My late mother was always called by her nickname by the grandchildren - could that work?

I was a step GM at 34. I went for 'Granny' Grin

FizzyGreenWater · 16/11/2019 10:53

You'll still be a grandma, just one with a stupid name which will either make people think you're a step-granny or they'll look even HARDER at you to try and see if you're old enough to actually be gran or 'Aunty Gags' Grin don't do it!!!

Gags isn't great. What about Gaga, like Lady Gaga?

I was 37 when my first GC was born , I felt the same until he was born .

I could called anything by those kids , honestly it really doesn't matter once they are here .

In fact I quite like the look of horror when we are out and my youngest (6) is shouting mummy and another one of clan is shouting nana Grin

Grab or granny is awful too unless you’re 80 or above .
It’s nan Or nanny or nothin’

Gags- sounds kinky

You don't get to choose, I didn't call either of mine Granny, they had unique names that I gave them as a child.

stucknoue · 16/11/2019 20:28

Nana is a better option. Or I know a mimi

igglepigglesbestie · 16/11/2019 20:59

Bibi? Nonni? Geegee?
Baba? Mar-mar?
Nana? Didi? Cece?

Gags? ... as in “gagging for it” or Gags as in “I gagged at the thought”. Confused
