Morrisons scam

With Christmas coming I decided to check my points balance and notice that someone else used £50 worth of vouchers in a shop miles and miles away in September . More points have been taken since 2018 (one lot in Wales!!) but I'd be happy just to sort out the most recent one.

My own fault for not checking it more frequently , but I wondered if this has happened to anyone else and what were the outcomes?

What I found on the internet didn't feel me with confidence as it seems it happened to a lot of people starting around the same time and very few have had refunds.

The line I needed was shut tonight so sent them an email and will ring tomorrow after work. I've changed my passwords and preferences and hopefully this will stop further theft, I will also request new cards.

Really stressed about tomorrow and quite pissed off at myself that I saved them for nearly 2 years and all that I have to show for it is £15 with a month to go until Christmas.

I would email them back all the links of reports and asking so this is all just a coincidence then?

The jailed employee alone shows they are talking bollocks.

And in the meantime, get on Twitter and start sharing the emails. Even if you create an account for just this. Go crazy, follow loads of people, make sure you follow Morrisons lol. Encourage people to re-tweet.

Like here, people will say the same happened to them. Harder for them to say it's not their fault.

If you do it by twitter, if you cannot share the link here, DM me and I will share. I know my followers will. Same with FB. (Hence create an anonymous account). I'm sure others on here would do the same.

I've had it happen with Tesco and Superdrugs. They gave me them back without any issue. One of them gave me extra for the inconvenience.

I didn’t even realise I could look up my points online . I shall look mine up tomorrow . I mostly shop at Aldi now but haven’t had one for a very long time

AuntyElle · 15/11/2019 23:51

As a PP said, report to the Information Commissioner’s Office as Morrison’s have seemingly not kept your data safe. It’s a simple online form:
ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/your-personal-information-concerns/personal-information-concerns/

It’s happened to loads of people, in similar scenarios:
forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=5893844

Morrison’s have had massive problems internally with data breaches:

AuntyElle · 15/11/2019 23:59

And there’s a Facebook group: m.facebook.com/morrisonscomplaints/

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 16/11/2019 00:00

Got an email. Not our fault. Not refunding. Contact Action Fraud.

Well done Morrison’s. You’ve probably now just lost a lot of custom.
Why do people like to make themselves unpopular.

Butterymuffin · 16/11/2019 00:08

I didn't know you could check points online either. Will do so tomorrow.

IamAporcupine · 16/11/2019 00:14

This happened to me but with our British Airways miles!
Someone hacked my account and bought themselves a flight! Angry

ellendegeneres · 16/11/2019 00:15

There goes me ever using Morrison’s again!

catsmother · 16/11/2019 01:00

My experience isn't related to their points vouchers, but I'm not surprised you've got nowhere as IME Morrisons' so called customer 'service' is utterly crap. I've had cause to complain to them twice - each time I very clearly set out a number of different issues, and each time I got a generic dismissive response that didn't address those specific points at all. I contacted them a second time asking for further consideration and again, got nowhere. It was like banging my head on a brick wall.

In short, their attitude was effectively we're not going to bother acknowleging your complaint properly ... it was just 'we're not in the wrong', despite my complaints relating to both inconvenience and expense caused by Morrisons' errors, where I'd been given incorrect info. In fact their responses were intelligence insulting and bordering on rude, they just didn't give a shit at all Angry

BrendasUmbrella · 16/11/2019 01:08

This happened to me with Nectar, but they were lovely, refunded the points immediately and gave me some extra too.

Morrison's don't sound very impressive...

Pasithea · 16/11/2019 01:11

Why I never use these cards.

thisthanthen · 16/11/2019 07:37

This happened to me, not anyone else even using them, just a sudden massive point withdraw that never happened. Claimed by me. They have no way of tracking their points apparently. Dealt with it all with really bad grace, I think I got some points but not all back in the end

WhiskeyLullaby · 16/11/2019 09:12

Sending another email and then will get on Twitter. Thank you for your support and kind words. Their emails not only made me angry , but also like maybe I was a bit stupid and it was all my fault. Even so, I think it's a disgrace that it's happening to so many people, and they jus shrug their shoulders and haven't made any changes.
They know it's happening.

I think I've done it right?

I don't know if this is allowed but this is the tweet.

And this?

twitter.com/aditzaaaa/status/1195634234066649088?s=20

I'm useless at twitter as I don't use it much.

Had a look. Really good.
Remember to use your # things like Morrisons Customers Points
Ask if others have had issues

The more people who say the same happened the better.

I will re-tweet at some point today. And just in case it gets removed have saved the link.

teabagleftin · 16/11/2019 10:18

forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=5893844&page=4

Lots of it going on it seems :(

In a previous life I had a job at Sainsbury’s and we had 2 people sacked in the time I was there for stealing points. Customers were always refunded.

WhiskeyLullaby · 16/11/2019 10:25

Email sent, tweeted and posted on facebook. I have to say I didn't expect this kind of battle, especially since I only asked for a refund for the latest transaction. I have a new card coming which hopefully will have whatever points i had on my last one and not have to start at 0.

Hi. I have had the same issue this week and its left me feeling awful losing £90 to some scumbag nearly 400 miles away. After reporting to Morrisons and getting a very unsatisfactory response saying basically it's my fault for allowing my personal security to be breached, I have reported to Action Fraud and to BBC Watchdog. I have read how thousands of people have gone through this and they blame me?? There has to be a breach with Morrisons, it seems too coincidental to have thousands of inividual accounts breached around the same time. Hoping that with enough voices and email bombardment, images of all the reports/headlines I can find online Morrisons will address their failing security procedures which allows weasels access to our data so damned easily. CEO Morrisons is David Potts. He's my next step.

PanicAndRun · 23/11/2019 09:25

Same issue here they're ignoring any tweets or emails once they made their "investigation " and on the phone they refuse to deal with it because a colleague already "investigated " and repeat the same spiel.

OwlinaTree · 23/11/2019 09:35

I'm very unhappy with Morrisons at the moment too, I complained about not getting Xmas saver vouchers this year and got ignored basically.

My son has written to our local branch asking for little trollies so I'm really hoping they don't ignore that!

Fr0g · 23/11/2019 09:44

forget facebook and twitter - and you won't get a lot of joy (or action) from action fraud.
Focus on the fact that is is a data breach, focus on that rather than how useless they are/pissed of you are, and report it to the information commissioners office.
ico.org.uk/for-organisations/report-a-breach/
you won't necessarily get compensation, but more chance of action being taken against them.
And change any passwords that may have been compromised.

spongejack · 12/01/2020 17:48

I've just started another thread. Mine Halle Ed st least a month after yours, They could've sent email warnings but obviously can't be bothered, they don't give a damn!

Northern53 · 17/02/2020 10:37

Yesterday I had my vouchers dowloaded and used from my Morrisons account. I have also contacted Morrisons but they state it is my problem as I have had a data breach, they do not accept responsiblity.

I have many other store cards and apps on my phone but they haven't been compromised, only Morrisons. Ive posted a message on twitter and have been asked to direct message Morrisons which I have. I will keep you updated on the progress.
