To ask nursery for a deal...?

DS currently attends a nursery which also run a before and after school club too (albeit very expensive). DD goes to breakfast club at school and after school club at the nursery as there are no places and a very long waiting list for the school club. I’m considering putting DD into the breakfast club so that I can maybe start earlier and finish earlier at work (it opens much earlier than schools club), however it is also double the price. AIBU to ask for a reduced rate for breakfast club as we already pay so much to the nursery?

Surely most of the other children in the breakfast club also attend the nursery and therefore also pay a large sum to the nursery?

YANBU to ask if they do concessions

YABU to ask them for a favour

mommathatwearspink · 12/11/2019 18:55

Yes but not all of them have siblings in the nursery and are already paying £1000+ per month to the nursery.

Worth a try

I think some nurseries offer sibling discount- generally off the oldest child.

LionelRitchieStoleMyNotebook · 12/11/2019 18:56

You could ask if they offer a sibling discount, some nurseries do, but not sure if it applies to wrap around care

QforCucumber · 12/11/2019 18:57

Our nursery offers a 2nd child discount as long as one child attends a min of 4 full days a week - it's something like a reduction of 10%.

NailsNeedDoing · 12/11/2019 18:57

No harm in asking if a discount is available, but I wouldn't be surprised if they say no. Nurseries generally have pretty tight budgets and I'd have thought that discounts were more likely to be reserved for parents who have two children using the same service.

churchandstate · 12/11/2019 18:58

You can always ask. If it’s popular then a place is worth what it’s worth.

inwood · 12/11/2019 18:58

If it's a popular one they'll probably have a list of people who will pay full price.

churchandstate · 12/11/2019 19:01

They might actually see it in the opposite way: a place is being taken up by a child for whom they are receiving no other income.

Pussinboots25 · 12/11/2019 19:11

My nursery does a siblings discount and also a full time discount. Don’t ask you don’t get x

Thehop · 12/11/2019 19:13

Sibling discount is quite common

Lipperfromchipper · 12/11/2019 19:16

Surely they have a sibling discount or childcare provider is 5 per hour but only an extra 2per hour for a sibling.

Lipperfromchipper · 12/11/2019 19:17

Our*

PotteringAlong · 12/11/2019 19:20

I get a 5% sibling discount for out of school club.
