To make my husband take sleeping pills

Yankeesocks · 11/11/2019 14:29

I'm the only one it's affecting, he sleeps soundfully every night whilst I am kept awake with his constant snoring!

Is it fair to drug him for my own convenience?!

Haven't asked the question but it's getting me down as I work 6-4 everyday and I am up so so early.

how would making him take sleeping pills stop him snoring?

Why dont you take them if you have trouble sleeping?

Whoops75 · 11/11/2019 14:31

Mmmm how will they help?
They won’t help him, maybe you should take them!!

Branleuse · 11/11/2019 14:31

Sleeping pills womt stop him snoring.
Do you wear earplugs?

JaneJeffer · 11/11/2019 14:32

Give him caffeine instead.

WhenISnappedAndFarted · 11/11/2019 14:32

Sleeping pills wont stop snoring.

Earplugs don't work for me either I can still hear him really loudly. The only thing that works for us is seperate bedrooms now

zebra22 · 11/11/2019 14:34

Why would sleeping pills help?

If his snoring is bad then get him to the doctors as he may have sleep apnea

PrincessHoneysuckle · 11/11/2019 14:35

You need them not him

Tableclothing · 11/11/2019 14:37

Google says sleeping pills will make his snoring worse.

Ear plugs for you?

lyralalala · 11/11/2019 14:37

Sleeping pills are more likely to make it worse as he'll be in an even deeper sleep

Digestive28 · 11/11/2019 14:42

Get him tested for sleep apnoea

PurpleDaisies · 11/11/2019 14:42

I agree with everyone else. Sleeping pills won’t help. Separate bedrooms will.

strawberrieshortcake · 11/11/2019 14:49

Sleeping pills make you snore, I never normally snore but when I take them I sound like an engine. This is definitely not the solution to your problem

WoollyFoolly · 11/11/2019 14:49

There are a lot of aids to help stop snoring - Sleeping pills aren't one of them! Have a look at the British snoring website as a first step. britishsnoring.co.uk/snoring/what_can_i_do_to_stop_snoring.php

I've tried many different nasal dilators (not for snoring, for breathing at night as my nostrils are twisted and narrow) and there are so many options to try. Apart from anything else, it should also improve his sleep quality too.

bluetue · 11/11/2019 15:11

Sleeping under the influence of sleeping tablets or alcohol makes snoring worse I find.

It would be better off for you to take them!! I sleep with a combination of a fan on high and ear plug, and the occasional nytol for DHs snoring.

Oysterbabe · 11/11/2019 15:14

You're the one who can't sleep, take them yourself.

whiskersonkittenss · 11/11/2019 15:14

@WoollyFoolly
Did any of the dilators work for you? I also have small nostrils and I tend to sleep with my mouth wide open Blush

WoollyFoolly · 11/11/2019 15:23

Not the ones you insert but that's because my nostrils (and inside my nose) are so twisted it was quite uncomfortable. I use nasal strips now, they work really well. I used to sleep with my mouth open too and the nasal strips almost completely eliminate it.

Mmmmdanone · 11/11/2019 15:25

Get some silicone squidgy ear plugs. They block out so much noise.

Celebelly · 11/11/2019 15:25

Ear plugs, white noise, separate rooms...

Much better options! He's more likely to snore on sleeping pills.

easyandy101 · 11/11/2019 15:29

Does he drink?

I only snore when i drink, even a pint or two

Yankeesocks · 11/11/2019 15:40

@easyandy101 he snores worse when he has had some drink yes. Every night he is not a drinker no.

@Oysterbabe because I'm laid next to a husband snoring! I may have to

My hubby snores so we have to sleep in separate rooms and have done for over a decade. It took some getting used to but because we both get such good sleep we have a better relationship than ever. I have to use ear plugs and I keep a fan on high mode ever single night in order to get to sleep as the alternative I me lying awake fantasizing about smothering him Halo

IndieTara · 11/11/2019 16:31

Separate rooms all the way OP if he refuses to do anything about it

AloeVeraLynn · 11/11/2019 16:42

I don't understand your thinking. How will it stop the snoring?
