Hello Mum's and mummy's to be. Just hoping that someone else has experienced watching own C-Section delivery of their baby or Partner's experiences? Any tip's or advice would be great. Thank's in advance.

Are you sure?

It feels like someone is doing the washing up in your insides..I think that would be quite traumatic to see.

Passthecherrycoke · 10/11/2019 19:16

I didn’t know you could. What do you do, get a mirror put up?

WildCherryBlossom · 10/11/2019 19:17

My SIL opted for no screen for her second c-section. She found it a very positive experience.

Passthecherrycoke · 10/11/2019 19:18

They usually have to pull and rock quite a lot to get baby out- I was expecting a simba Moment as they triumphantly lifted my baby out but instead I’m sure the doctor had to put her foot up against the bed at one point to get more traction for the pulling 🤣 like a baby calf

Redcrayons · 10/11/2019 19:19

I can't watch them taking blood. watching them cutting me open, no no no.

That said I would possibly have watched a video of it later.

nailsathome · 10/11/2019 19:19

You aren't allowed to watch an emergency cs but my husband managed to watch mine and loved it

brittanyfairies · 10/11/2019 19:20

I could see bits reflected in the shiny lights above the operating table

CymaticPrincess88 · 10/11/2019 19:24

Same thing happened to me when I was having my third degree tear sewn up in theatre. I looked up at the lights and saw everything. I didn't want to see but couldn't look away. Damn morbid curiosity lol

Celebelly · 10/11/2019 19:24

I watched a bit in the shiny lights above me but it was hard to see any details. Mostly just looked like random gore. DP had a good nosy though and informed me my intestines were very neat Grin

ifpossible · 10/11/2019 19:24

Yes watched mine in the reflection of the mirrored light above. After a loud ‘shh don’t tell her’ from the anaesthetist to my OH when she realised he was watching up above. Silly moo - wasn’t my ears she had numbed.... Wasn’t totally clear obviously but I got the jist.... 😂

ifpossible · 10/11/2019 19:25

Oh I see i’m not alone with the lights Grin

Onehellofaride · 10/11/2019 19:27

They forgot the screen with my first so with my second I decided not to bother with it. I’m not squeamish though. I found it positive too.

PaquitaVariation · 10/11/2019 19:29

I was too busy focusing on not vomiting or passing out from the low blood pressure to try to see anything! DH coped remarkably well considering how awful he is with blood etc. He didn’t pay too much attention to the business end of the table though.

Wonkydonkey44 · 10/11/2019 19:30

Saw mine in the mirrored lights above ..... not for the faint hearted 😬

waspfig · 10/11/2019 19:32

Yes me too.

I meant to ask for the screen down for my second c section as I wanted to be more involved but my anaesthesia went a bit haywire and I spent a lot of the time feeling/being sick.

DH said he just saw a lot of red but I think he saw quite a bit and didn't want to freak me out.

I watched one of mine be born via c-section! I can't even watch things like that on TV!!

I suppose it's different when it comes to yourself, i felt very relaxed though(drugs)
It felt like it wasn't my body if you see what i mean!

Dandelion1993 · 10/11/2019 19:34

I asked them to move the screen when stitching me up.

It was an emergency section and I just wanted to see. It was quite fascinating

CherryBathBomb · 10/11/2019 19:35

@Dandelion1993
I found it fascinating too!

Same here, it was very clear and I joked with them that they really needn't have bothered with the screen! They told me it was to keep the sterile area separate and to stop my ex from passing out (he's a lot more squeamish me, I found it fascinating).

Mine were emergencies - but 6 months before the first I'd done a stint as a paeds SHO which included attending C-sections where there was any chance the baby might need help (If need for help was certain, someone more experienced was generally there with me!). I found myself "watching" in my mind's eye, unable to stop myself visualising what was going on ...

topcat2014 · 10/11/2019 19:37

I was sitting to the side, and there was a screen up. That was close enough for me. Memory plays tricks And it feels screen was ten foot tall.. DW doesn't remember much, which is probably for the best. Was emergency, late on remembrance Sunday as it happens.

ShrimpingViolet · 10/11/2019 19:39

It was a joke, Celebelly, don't worry too much about it.

Bunnybaubles · 10/11/2019 19:49

Aw wish I'd known about the mirrored lights and seen mine during my emergency c-section.

Unfortunately I eventually had to be put out of it because baby's head was completely stuck (even tho she was premature) and it took them over an hour of tugging to get her out. Then they couldnt stop the bleeding, that was another hour and then I got sepsis so that was another hour before I was sewn back up.

So, over 3 hours under those mirrored lights and I missed everything.

I would've found it fascinating to have watched it all Grin
