Aibu or is it rude to wear headphones all the time around the house? Just been told I'm controlling for asking a family member to remove them when talking to me??

Assuming it’s a child saying this?

If so give them the number of child line and tell them to raise a grievance.

I don’t mind if people wear headphones so long as they remove them when talking to me. YANBU

When speaking to someone? Take your damn headphones out. It's terrible manners to leave the speaker wondering if you can actually hear them or not.
When just mooching around the house listening to music? No issue with it.

Husband unfortunately, asked him if he could take his headphones off when speaking to me and got told I was controlling!

It hacks me off when people do this. My eldest does it, but he's 17 so it's expected I guess.

I was expecting you to say it was your son or daughter, not your husband. If my wife was doing this, I'd tell her to grow up.

I'm quite often found walking around the house doing jobs with my Kindle sticking out of my back pocket listening to an audiobook. As soon as someone starts to talk to me I ask them to wait for just one moment while I stop the book and remove the earbuds so I can give them my attention. It is really very rude to refuse to do so.

Maybe it's like those Mumsnetters who don't think you should need to open the door to someone wanting your attention. Maybe they think you shouldn't be speaking to them when they're listening to whatever it is?

I'd be tempted to yank the earbuds out of my DH's ears if he acted like that. RUDE!
