really stuck. I have a 9 yo DD who is a tomboy. she doesn't really play with toys anymore but is not quite a teen either. I am really stuck this year.

she likes reading so I will be getting some books but other than that? She is not into clothes and prefers to wear the same old rugs over and over again (but that is a whole separate post really, sigh).

she has toys but doesn't play a lot with them. she often 'hangs out' with her friends but less now the weather is crap and it's getting dark early. She does martial arts several times a week but has all the stuff. She is just a bookworm really who does martial arts and doesn't care about much else....

Help! I cannot be the only one who is stuck with a pre teen who isn't into toys anymore.

Dee, that is the only thing she asked for actually but totally out of my price range. Hopefully I can do that in a couple of years time Smile

Stunt scooter - my 9yo not-girly-girl loves hers. We go to the skate park a lot now and she's nowhere near as brave as she thought she was so lots of learning to do!

For xmas she's asked for some combo skateboard/bounce board thing she's seen on telly Confused

Kindle and voucher to download some books? Craft sets? One of those 3D puzzles that she can spend a big chunk of time on? I’ve just bought my 10 year old boy a pick lock set, comes with a see through pad luck so you can see the mechanism and what your doing?

I don't know. Maybe a charm for her pandora bracelet. Or tickets to something. We haven't got a lot of money this year.

I’ve got a 9 yo son and it is a tricky age to buy for. He’s also a bookworm but still has about 6 books unread from a recent birthday. He’s getting a space talk watch, more books, some small bits and I’m thinking of a table tennis table for him and his brother but they are quite expensive.

For his birthday he got an iPod and a speaker which he has used loads as he loves music.

DSD is 8, a bit of a tomboy and also not really into toys. We're going to get her tickets for a theme park - well, fake tickets essentially with a promise to go on a day of her choosing. Possibly some new books although recently she's taken to going to the library on a fortnightly basis so we're not sure on that one. We may get her a board game to open on the day such as the older version of monopoly as she's outgrown the junior one.

My 9 year old only wants scrunchies! We have got her some slime sets and crafty bits. We're also adopting an animal in a zoo for her.
If your DD only hangs out with her mates how about cinema vouchers or a day out with a few friends to do an activity and eat.

Hoping for a good black Friday deal - if that fails I think it will be a HP stream which are £170-200 but thats pretty much all she's getting from us, and it's a bit easier for us as she's an only child.

Mine is getting a bike, a smart watch, some clothes, face masks and pamper things, a lava lamp, make your own lip gloss, an electronic journal and she also wants a few toys like an oonez ball maker and a surprise hair doll thing! A real mixture this year!

MonaChopsis · 10/11/2019 20:53

My 9 year old DD is very similar but with kayaking instead of martial arts. The only thing she's asked for is a laptop Confused To be fair, we don't have one and she'd find it very useful for schoolwork and Minecraft but I am really hoping for a Black Friday miracle!
