To regularly serve the same meal 2 nights in a row?

For example, pot roast on Sunday with roast tatas, slow cooked leftovers on Monday with bread and butter. Different veg. Corned beef hash with green beans on Tuesday, leftover corned beef hash with baked beans on Wednesday. Pasta bolognese on Thursday, left over bolognese on baked potatoes on Friday. I really don't mind eating the same thing twice and my kids seem to like things better at the second or third offering.

I don't like this personally so we freeze leftovers and have them another night. But I wouldn't think anything of someone else doing this.

I didn't think it was that irregular. When I was really into the gym I used to eat the same 5 mini meals every day but sometimes in slightly different combinations, like I'd switch out the veg or carb but basically eat chicken an awful lot. I don't have my beast of a freezer anymore so don't prep on the same scale, so there is less variety as I can't freeze as much.

My family always ate a different meal every night of the week, sometimes my Mum would cook a different meal for some of us, so like a vegetarian option things like that, and she hated it so much and was working really hard (2 full time working parents) and so we ended up eating a lot of ready meals, which are expensive and made me fat tbh, also less control over salt and sugar in the food that kind of thing.

I thought I was happy with it, but I guess was made To feel like friend thinks I could be mothering better. One of the 'I wake up every day clean the whole house, bake the days bread, do a full gym workout, farm my 100 acres, put a full face of make up on, donate a kidney and write a novel before I even wake the DCs' types.

I would skip a night but I like variation in my food. Whatever suits your family best op 👍 a long as they are happy, who cares what your friends thinks??? 🤷‍♂️

I don't as I like more variety but there's nothing wrong with it all if you are happy with the way you eat.

I've just cooked off a large pan of Spag Bol for this evenings meal after it has chilled down I will put it in fridge until Monday and serve it over baked potatoes there will still be left over to be put in tubs for freezing and used for my lunchs later on in the month,normal way of cooking in our household.

This is the 2nd time in a few days I've seen an OP's so-called friend calling them a 'slattern' when they evidently don't know the meaning of the word.
Dictionary definition is 'a dirty and/or untidy woman.'

OP, you just sound very sensible and practical to me, using up what there is.

I do this, and DH sometimes takes the same thing for lunch. I get funny looks from others but it means half the cooking!

We deliberately meal-plan to do this during the week - eg, a chilli would be a portion for the freezer, a meal with rice, tortilla chips, salsa, guacamole, and soured cream, then a second meal with baked potato and salad. A curry is two identical dinners. If we have a roast chicken on a Sunday, Monday will always be risotto.

I honestly thought this was normal! We are fine money-wise, poorer in terms of time.

It sounds very sensible and it works for you so it really shouldn't matter what anyone else thinks. Personally though, I hate eating the same meal 2 days in a row, although I have no idea why.

I tend to alternate, so make something Monday, leftovers Wednesday, cook Tuesdays leftovers Thursday.

I do this all the time. I work evenings so I use my slow.cooker alot and makes sense to make a bigger batch then so you have left overs and/or stuff to freeze as it takes no longer and no more effort.

Stews and curries and bolognese taste better the following day anyway.

Totally reasonable.

Like most people I try to vary it up a bit - yesterday's chilli goes into tacos say, or yesterday's chicken curry is supplemented by a quick veggie curry if it looks like it won't stretch, or yesterday's gammon in coke is today's pulled pork in barbecue sauce in buns as a TV dinner.

My dc prefer it when I do this. They reckon that most things taste better after a day in the fridge rather than a few weeks in the freezer, which is the alternative! We don't chuck anything edible out, ever.

I think it’s totally fine. I might get a bit bored if it was exactly the same thing two nights running (but that’s my problem), but you’re varying the serving so it’s not boring at all!

We tend to freeze most leftovers like casserole, bolognese though so we can then eat the following week rather than next day. But I have no problem eaten leftovers the next day, and adding bits if needed.

Yanbu. Especially making a roast stretch. It's such a faff roasting a joint so if it does 2 days tea, all the better. I usually deliberately buy a bigger cut than I need.

My favourite left over is gammon, egg, chips, peas and leftover cauliflower cheese. I also freeze portions of stews, bolognese, lasagna etc for my mum as there is only her and she doesn't cook very often. And she is skint and very proud. But if I give her those, she accepts them without feeling like a charity case as she thinks we don't like leftovers.

But the absolute best meal of the day is boxing day leftovers from Christmas day. It's even better than Christmas dinner.

I frequently do a proper roast chicken dinner for just the two of us on a Sunday with twice the veg needed, then on Monday night we have Poultry Pie which is like Cottage Pie. But chunks of chicken and roasted carrot in a sauce made from leftover gravy and onion sauce, then slices of roast potatoes and roast celeriac on top.
