To think I should be able to find a heavy duvet?

We’ve always had 13.5 tog feather and down duvets from TKMaxx and they’ve always been nice and heavy.
I’ve just got a new one from there, supposedly reduced from £210. It was thin , even when I tried to plump it out. So I got another cheaper non feather and down one and it was also very thin and cold.
So am I imagining that I can get a warm 13.5 tog?
Does anyone have any recommendations for a good heavy, preferably heavily reduced price duvet. I’d like feather and down. DP has read that silk would be good.

I've got a 9.5 and a 3.5 which clip together. They're silk ones, and although individually quite "thin", when clipped together, are heavy. Got them from Amazon.

Just taken back a goose feather and down 13.5 tog to tkmaxx brand was earls of Witney - it weighed far too much and was too hot so bought a 10.5 instead

I've got a 15 tog Dorma one. It's like sleeping in marshmallow. Big, fluffy and heavy Grin

I have a weighted blanket and it is weirdly effective in helping me sleep.

I have the highest rating from Next and it’s brilliant- v warm and heavy. Had to get used to feeling pinned down at first!

I have just been sewing popper fasteners onto some of our 4.5 tog king size duvets so that we can change up or down according to how cold it gets. We had several lighter duvets and we really did not want to go and buy a heavier one when 2 or 3 clipped together would do the same job.

I’ve seen a couple of people recommending a weighted blanket over a quilt - wouldn’t that reduce the warmth of the quilt by compressing the contents? The gaps are part of what makes them warm.
I have a 13.5tog feather and down which I bought in Aldi, but think is by Slumberdown. Nicely weighted and very warm.

Having seen the process online, how is it possible to find ethically sourced feathers/down?
Genuinely puzzled Confused
