Induction for VBAC (and your VBAC experiences)

I am scheduled for a VBAC in a few days and the hospital has said I will be induced at 41 weeks 5 days if I don’t go into labour naturally.

My first child was born by a drip-induced vaginal birth. Second was a planned C-section due to complications with child’s position (breech) and some abnormalities that showed up in a late scan.

Third pregnancy is just over 2 years after my second and I’m hoping to try for VBAC. I read on a separate thread yesterday that some hospital trusts don’t induce for VBACs whereas others do. This made me more worried as I’ve also heard slightly conflicting info.

Were you induced for a VBAC?
Were you given the option to be induced?
How was your VBAC experience?

I’m just hoping this helps to calm my nerves...

Thanks Smile

Update:

So I had a similar experience to @HeyPesto55! I went through with the VBAC, was induced successfully with medication on a tampon-like fabric thing and gave birth the following day to quite a large baby! It wasn’t easy and I found it difficult to handle the contractions so opted for slightly stronger pain relief (Pethidine along with the gas and air) but it thankfully went well. No complications except baby did the slightest amount of meconium poo before she was delivered, so we had some antibiotics in hospital.

Thank you for everyone who shared their experiences! And good luck to anyone considering the same Smile

Excellent news and thanks for the update. Though I thought meconium in later babies was pretty. I'm on. I had it in my waters when induced last time and babybdidnt come out by c section until 15 hours later. No antibiotics here, must be different in each hospital I guess. Hope you're enjoying your little one.

Congratulations! Only just saw this thread and another happy induced VBAC story from me.... Mine was 12 years after original CS and managed whole induction and labour with no issues. Interestingly, Consultants never tried to dissuade me from trying for a natural birth. I agree it laid to rest some issues and difficulties lurking from original Elective CS
