Are the feelings gone?

I'm somewhat confused and would appreciate your opinions on this issue please.
A friend and I seemed to stray into emotional affair territory for many months until a year ago where we detached gradually as he was seeing a lady and despite being casual
For months , he stepped up and they got more serious.
I was single.I can't truthfully describe my feelings towards him as they are conflicting. He is confused about his sexuality and regardless of orientation, has little or no interest in sexual intimacy with females.
We remained in contact and close but not as close as we once were. There was a strong mutual attraction then but I could never imagine being intimate with him as I knew that he found sex and the idea of sex, with women , generally repulsive.Because of this, I expect that he did not find me attractive although he always complimented me and was quite sexual in his communication with me.
We have got closer in recent months andI am concerned about straying back into this territory again. He is still in a relationship and she certainly ticks all the boxes for him but he is reluctant to commit to living together, children, holidays etc .
Can you help me to unpick please?
I would like a friendship with him but I am worried about his motives

I don't think he is confused about his sexuality because he finds sex with women repulsive. For some reason he isn't able to come out. I don't know why he's leading you and his other 'girlfriend' on. It's not fair. Maybe he likes to flirt and it's an ego boost. I don't think you should waste anymore of your time with someone who isn't able to have sex with you, when that is what you want from the relationship. I also don't think it's good for your mental health to be with someone who thinks sex with you is repulsive. You need someone who wants to have sex with you!

He could be asexual also.

Asexuality has been something that I have thought about. He needs lots of ego boosting and he is fulfilled in that way as his partner adores him and tends to his every need to the detriment of her own needs.
I could not imagine being intimate with him but I do adore his company and would enjoy his companionship very much.
