AIBU or should the AIBU board only be for AIBU’s

The amount of threads on here that start with :

OP: X happened I did y, AIBU?
Everyone: Yes YABU
OP : But I did it for z, w and x reasons
Everyone: Yes You are still being unreasonable
OP: all of you are classist/don’t know my situation/ keyboard warriors

The point is that what is the point of the AIBU board if the OP has already made up their mind about an issue and just wants to be justified by their strangers about their decision and gets angry when anyone disagrees with them.

Honestly I think MNHQ should remove threads that follow this train or move them to different goods because it defeats the purpose of the entire board.

AIBU=Petty Gripes. Best to take it all with a pinch of salt and not get invested.

I am definitely not invested, it just makes me laugh that most thread seems to go this way! They should rename the board ‘Justify me or i’ll kick off (JMOIKO)’

Better than the interlopers from chat etc which don't even pretend to be AIBUs. Better moderation would keep it on track but I think that's wishful thinking.

Still better than “not AIBU but posting for traffic”. The more that happens because people don’t bother to visit other more appropriate boards the fewer people visit the other boards.

I hid AIBU for a month or so. It makes your Active list full of more interesting stuff.
I think some posters only look at AIBU which is a shame because there's interesting threads elsewhere.

strawberrieshortcake · 05/11/2019 18:23

@pugparty @AnneLovesGilbert I think this board gets the most traffic so people who want their stories read post here for attention but it means most of the stories aren’t AIBU but rants and calls for agreementS

This isn't a popular opinion at all but a part of me honestly believes that a good majority of interactions over the internet (or in real life, for that matter) centres around the very human desire for validation.

More often than not, I feel like posters already have an idea (whether they are consciously aware of that idea is a whole other discussion) as to what they'd like to do or what they'd like an outcome of a particular situation to be.

Actually typing something and posting is then a sort of 'fishing expedition' for further affirmation that their choice is right, alternative viewpoints from the same side they could use to back up their decisions, and/or something to make them feel good about what they have done or are about to do.

Hell, maybe I'm just a cynic.
