Has anyone gone private for infertility?

Sorry for posting on aibu I’ve posted in infertility before and had 0 responses and I feel at a loss.

I’ve been prescribed 50mg clomid as I don’t ovulate. Just had my day 21 bloods and I haven’t ovulated so feeling very defeated.
I don’t get on with our consultant she’s extremely blunt and feels so impersonal. I’m having no scans etc as my hospital don’t have the funding to do this so I only get day 21 bloods.

Feel like I’ve been left to my own devices and it’s honestly hurting so much now.
I’m wondering if we go private if I’ll feel better and we’ll have more tests scans etc and a wider range of medicine options?
My hospital don’t do letrozole either so once I’ve had the 3 rounds of clomid we’re basically looking at ivf (would be private ivf as we have a child each already)

Thank you.

I used 50mg of clomid and it worked after a couple of months - I was also on metformin. this was a few years ago so perhaps they no longer give the latter, but it could be worth doing some research into it and seeing if it is something you can suggest to your consultant.
We were lucky that our NHS consultant was wonderful (blunt too, admittedly). If your experience isnt so great, and you have the money to go private then why not? But do give the clomid a month or 2 before you give up on the NHS.

Ahh, just read that you get 3 months of clomid only! Maybe see what happens with the 3 months and then decide?

@Loislanyard I’ll have a look into metformin thank you.
We will hopefully have the clomid increased next cycle then see if that works x

Good luck and best wishes @DixyWitch19 - I remember what a hard time mentally it all was. Make sure you do lots of things that make you happy whilst you are going through this (walks, hot chocolates in cosy pubs, whatever it might be!)

That's a fair point from @LoisLanyard, @Dixywitch19 - I was also on 1500mg on metformin (given by NHS). I was told before I started clomid that trials have shown clomid to be more effective for people that were on metformin for 3-6 months before they started clomid treatment.

@Steenac7 we were advised to have DH take a course of fertilix. He did that for 3 months and it worked, bringing him well into normal range. In the end we still went for IVF rather than try as it had by then been a very long time but we didn't end up needing ICSI and succeeded first cycle with 4 to freeze. I got 17 eggs, 15 fertilised and all made it to the transfer day but they only used the very top grade and froze the very top grade. Such a turnaround for us.

OP take a look at the forums over at fertility friends.co.uk there's lots of info including clinic reviews.
I conceived on my 6th round of clomid via nhs.

Fertility Friends is a great website.

I got frustrated with the NHS pretty quickly and we went private before even having basic tests done (several months to wait). I’m in London and chose a very small, friendly clinic. It was a fab experience as it was professional, great communication etc.

@JoJoSM2 Hello, was just wondering which clinic in London you had treatment...currently looking for a good clinic in London but reviews are so mixed, so finding it difficult to pick.
I hope you don't mind me asking.x
