Footner when pregnant

I have really horrible dry skin on my heels. It’s unsightly and there’s loads of it - my feet look really ugly. It’s so hard and sharp that when I scraped DH’s leg accidentally with my foot while in bed the other night, he called out in pain! Blush

I’m desperate to do a Footner foot mask treatment as I’ve read so many good things about them on MN, but on the website, under whether pregnant women should use them, it says:

“No. As the skin of pregnant women and nursing mothers is more sensitive, we do not recommend using Footner products during this period.”

My heels aren’t sensitive at all - they’re as hard as nails FFS!

Does this mean I have to live with my horrible heels for the foreseeable - or is there anything else I can try? I’ve been to a salon in the past and had the dead skin removed, but it only lasted about two weeks, so seemed a bit pointless. I just want lovely soft feet!

I read that SS it's not way going to harm the baby! You know your feet are not sensitive so use it.

Do you think so Spangly? It’s my first pregnancy so I’m a bit nervous. Has anyone used Footner while pregnant?

Well your skin IS more sensitive in pregnancy. It’s not really about harming the baby, you could damage your skin. And footner goes over your whole foot, not just the heel. Can you try a buffer thing that you can use directly on the dry skin?

I have really sensitive skin (plus feet like yours Grin) and I used footner twice in my last despite the warnings. The thought of having my feet on show during labour overcame my dear of what could possibly go wrong.

Anyway, I never had any bad reactions afterall and really enjoyed the results (both times).

I also had gestational diabetes and there were even bigger warnings about that, how it can raise my blood sugars considerably.

It didnt (I monitored throughout) and my levels were no higher than they wouldve been if I'd just had a slice of toast.

*in my last pregnancy should say

Are you exfoliating with a pumice stone and the using a thick moisturizer between salon treatments? I find that helps me or the hard skin builds up again.

I bloody love footner but I I was wouldn't have used it when I was pregnant due the chemicals although I was a bit of a neurotic wimp during that time!

Footer does absolutely nothing for me except give me itchy feet, so I wouldn't bother. You need to go to a chiropodist and get the hard skin removed with a scalpel. It's amazing!

Damntheman · 05/11/2019 09:09

Go to a chiropodist I agree! If you can't do that then soak your feet in warm water with a bit of apple cider vinegar for no longer than 20 minutes. Then have at them with a pumice stone, slather in foot cream and immediately put some socks on.

I get horrible feet in the winter time :)

I had the same problem.
I have one of these - www.amazon.co.uk/Scholl-Velvet-Smooth-Electric-Remover/dp/B00R6AE030/ref=sr_1_3?s=drugstore&crid=R6OB2S6Z7F7I&keywords=scholl+velvet+smooth&sprefix=Schol%2Cdrugstore%2C181&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&qid=1572945875&sr=1-3

I use it once a week - just stick to the instructions and don't be tempted to overdo it for quicker results. Several times a week I apply The Body Shop hemp foot protector immediately before putting on my socks. It's made a huge difference.
