Rubbish and recycling

Not sure where to put this but...

I have OCD. My house has to look like a show home at all times. DH is the same. I can’t stand having lots of bins around and rubbish in piles on the sideboards. I miss the days when it all got put into the same bin (stylish one in corner of kitchen) and job done.

I haven’t got room in my kitchen for all the different boxes we now have. (Red, blue and black boxes; brown food waste box; green wheelie bin and orange wheelie bin).
I don’t really have a space in the garden to pop them either as we’ve just lived into a new house and the back yard is currently mud.

Also, letters with my address on them? What do you do with them? I used to burn it all in my old house, but no can do now.

First world problem I know, but I’ve currently got three big boxes blocking up my hall way for the different types of waste.

How do you do it?

Thank you 😊

No real help, but you can get a home shredder for the correspondence.

@didntwanttochangemyname

Ooh, that’s a bit better. Thank you!

I like the Swedish model where they have 6 or 8 different coloured bags under their sink: orange for this, grey for that. Clever.

Rubbish and recycling

@Leeds2

I have had a few shredders and I keep breaking them as I put too much through at once 😬

No excuse though. What would I do with all the shreds?

Sorry, you’d think I’d never recycled before lol. The rules around here just got stricter than they’ve been before.

@Oblomov19

Bags would certainly be less bulky and less of an eyesore.

But again, when the nice bin/bag fills up, what do you do with it until bun day?

You have to put the shreds in the ordinary rubbish as they are too small to be put into recycling. At least, that is what I have been told at work!

OP, is there space for a composter in your garden? As well as being the obvious place for kitchen waste and garden trimmings, they are a great way to get rid of confidential papers.

DBML · 03/11/2019 19:06

@makingmammaries

There will be. I didn’t know you could put paper into it. That’s a good idea, thank you.

I also like the idea of having small coloured boxes under the sink. It’s out of the way and organised. I’ll have to see if DH can make me something.
