Would you vote Green or Lib Dem if you didn't think it was a "wasted vote".

There is so much talk about tactical voting - I just wonder if everyone actually voted with their convictions whether it would radically change the face of UK politics.

A first past the post system really doesn't seem the best way.

Admittedly this makes the decision very easy because there is only one decent candidate in my area. The rest of them are right wing nutjobs or about nineteen with no significant action or opinions apparently displayed.

I have a Lib Dem MP, just, despite blatant gerrymandering to try to create a Tory constituency (at the same time as they did their best to eliminate a Labour council altogether). There in fact aren't many LibDem policies I support without reservation but I am damned if I'm going to have my vote counted as pro Brexit, or if I will vote in a way to let a Tory in.

nancy75 · 01/11/2019 21:39

The only thing I care about in this election is Brexit, I would like to vote Lib Dem but they were a very low third in my staunch Tory borough. I will hold my nose & vote Labour in the vain hope it will push the Tory candidate out ( it won’t, despite him being utterly shit & usually drunk)

SavageBeauty73 · 01/11/2019 21:58

No.

I actually really like my Labour MP.

tttigress · 01/11/2019 22:02

I think you should just vote for who you want.

The greens are growing in most countries.

If no one ever votes green because labour tell them it is a waste vote the greens will go nowhere.

Artesia · 01/11/2019 22:04

I might if they hadn’t both made it very clear they didn’t want my vote.

puppy23 · 01/11/2019 22:05

I'm probably voting Lib Dems in December because I agree with them on most things and have lost hope and trust in Labour I think - though I do worry about it being a 'wasted vote' a little. Don't think I'd vote Green though.

chomalungma · 01/11/2019 22:11

I think I would vote Lib Dem - but I worry that voting that way would let in a Conservative into the seat.

I hate the FPTP system. The system we used for the European elections was far better.

ChilliMum · 01/11/2019 22:15

Yes I would like to vote green at this election.

Usually I vote labour in national but I dont want to this time I am a hard remainer and I am angry that my last vote was counted as part of the 80% vote for Brexit.

I believe it was lack of leadership and vision in the labour party put me in that position and they have done nothing so far to win back my vote.

Tactically I should vote labour but I think that there might be quite a lot of angry remainer conservatives too who would never vote lab but might be convinced to vote lib dem. So maybe I will take a risk and put my x at the lib dem box. I guess it will come down to what is more important to people, party loyalty or Brexit.

Mrsgogginsthe3rd · 01/11/2019 22:19

Yes we would vote Lib Dem, but we can’t where we are as there’s a very real chance the Brexit Party will get in so we’re having to suck it up and vote labour. Well this is what DH is doing I’m still not 100% certain I can vote for Corbyn.

nancy75 · 01/11/2019 22:27

Mrsgogginsthe3rd I know what you mean about Corbyn, I’m not a fan BUT if it’s him or Boris Johnson I’ll vote for Corbyn everyday of the week

UterusUterusGhali · 01/11/2019 22:31

I’ve always voted Green in EU elections.
Voted for them in the GE a while back (I forget which one) and I’d vote again probably if I wasn’t voting tactically this time and we had FPTP.

I’m going Lib Dem or Labour this time. I’m quite fond of the NHS.

Violetparis · 01/11/2019 22:40

No, don't know what Lib Dems stand for apart from Remain and I don't agree with their Revoke policy. Greens would be my second choice after Labour.

BingoLittlesUncle · 01/11/2019 22:46

Will vote LibDem as Labour is a wasted vote here (local party have a piss up if they save their deposit) and I won't vote Tory.

Chloemol · 01/11/2019 22:51

No

holycrumpets · 01/11/2019 22:51

Absolutely Lib Dem. lost faith in the other main parties.

Poetryinaction · 01/11/2019 22:54

I really want to remain. I always vote Lib Dem unless it's tactical. I am in a Labour area. I don't know.
