Has anybody noticed that they have changed the rules this year.ie
"Only £100 worth of Nectar Double Up vouchers will be issued per Nectar card/account during the promotional period."
Previously there was no limit on how much you of your nectar points you could use.
Previously, there was a limit of £100 voucher per item, now the overall limit you can spend is £100!
I have 33,000 points which would have been worth £333 in the double up. Now it will be worth £100 + £115 ... so I'm losing £118.
No wonder they can splash out on their ad campaign ... cos'they're going to save millions.
B@stards!
I'll be going to Tescos from now on.

Not really

Unless you've bought stuff you wouldn't usually buy to get points over the year, then it is free (other than it being payment for data / info you've given them) as you've had free points for your shopping which then translates into free stuff from the supermarket.

If you don't like the terms, don't bother. Shop elsewhere. Rest assured, Sainsbury’s / Nectar won't give a shit.

I look at it as free stuff. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Oakmaiden · 01/11/2019 20:43

It's all wrapped up in the price you have already paid for the things you have already had, though. It is really just a glorified stamp scheme. It is like: your shopping costs 99p, you have a stamp (or nectar point) added to your card worth 1p, you pay £1. The only difference being that you don't have a choice about whether or not you want to save the points, and the cost is wrapped up in the cost of your shopping to make you think you are getting free stuff.

Whereas in fact it is just stuff you have already paid for (and some people end up paying for and not claiming back, so Sainsbury win there!)

@Lifebi as long as what's in your trolley is included in any of the categories then you can include it in your voucher spend. I agree with you. It's worse now. I had a £400 shop planned which is now a £200 shop.

crustycrab · 01/11/2019 21:02

@Oakmaiden not necessarily. My points are as a bonus for taking out a nectar credit card. On which I bought items I was buying anyway (holiday). The bonus was £100 of points on each credit card. Double up would mean on 2 credit cards I had £400 to spend. The new limit means I only have £200 and will hold the rest for next year to get the most out of them

Lifebi · 01/11/2019 23:41

But it's free shit.

hmmm, but I'm not getting as much shit as I was expecting based on previous years promotions.
And it's not as much free shit as I could get at Tesco's whose loyalty program is much better.

Lifebi · 02/11/2019 21:56

Sorry Crusty, I guess you just haven't got the 'X factor'!

The article seems to have assumed that the OP is male because they talk about their wife ShockShock

Ha, I came here via the Kent Live link. Yes it's shit. I managed to spend £260 worth of double up points last year, and the limits per category didn't seem to apply. However I've switched to Tesco myself and get our Railcard and all our ferry travel using points.

LazyDaisey · 03/11/2019 15:02

I love it. We only ever bought some wine and have amassed tons of points because there was nothing else to spend it on. Don’t wear Tu, electronics aren’t great, and very limited selection of toys. I hated going into the store to get a stupid voucher a week ahead so love the online option now. Stocking up on port for the year 🍷

Oblomov19 · 03/11/2019 15:06

The app is rubbish.
I have literally no points and I can't work out why.

Every year for the last 10 years, we save all year, I've had £150- £175 to take off my Christmas shop.

This year I have £20.98

Eh?

Lifebi · 03/11/2019 16:15

For anybody in Kent, I am available for turning on Xmas lights for a nominal fee ... (But preferably not paid in Nectar points!)

🤣🤣

GorkyMcPorky · 03/11/2019 17:35

@Oblomov19, ring Nectar. Just before double up last year my card was cloned and some fucker swiped the lot. The people at Nectar were quick to reimburse me.
