EAT restaurants closing down

A bit late to the news, but I heard today that EAT is closing soon - apparently Pret has bought all its stores and is planning to convert many of them into veggie/vegan branches of Pret:

www.independent.co.uk/news/business/news/pret-a-manger-eat-takeover-vegetarian-vegan-high-street-a8924776.html

I'm fully expecting loads of replies telling me I'm lazy and should make my own packed lunches to take in. You're right, I should.

But I like EAT for its soups and hot pots (particularly the chicken pot pie!) and will miss having it as an alternative to Pret - it's nice having a choice. Are you a fan of EAT and will you miss it? Or are you looking forward to the veggie/vegan Pret concept?

More Prets? They’re everywhere 😩

Mermaidtissues · 29/10/2019 13:46

Chicken pot pie is the best!

StCharlotte · 29/10/2019 13:50

Agreed. All that brown was very depressing and off putting.

wondering7777 · 29/10/2019 14:01

Leon is vastly superior to both

Leon is so good but it is a pricier option. I'd happily eat lunch there most days if I had the £££ though!

Damn.. this thread is making me want to go to Eat Blush

The chicken pot pie is calling me.

BossAssBitch · 29/10/2019 14:11

Both EAT and Pret are incredibly dull but a veggie/vegan Pret might be a bit more interesting.. one can live in hope

OnceFreshFish · 29/10/2019 14:20

I always had a vendetta against them because they refused to donate left over sandwiches to a homeless drop in centre I volunteered at and would throw them out instead. (This was 10 years ago to be fair so may have changed their policy).

Chloe84 · 29/10/2019 14:24

My heart sinks at Heathrow T2 because they have an EAT but no Pret.

I'm sorry for the business and the people losing their jobs, but I won't miss EAT.

HolyheadBound · 29/10/2019 14:24

I was very sad to learn this. I was addicted to Eat's Chicken Laksa! They're clearly shutting them down fast too. There are only two EATs left in the City near me, and they've both started doing pre-packaged porridge like Pret does Angry

blackfriars · 29/10/2019 14:40

I just texted my friends today to ask if the EATs near everyone were closing down as mine has turned into a pret and I wanted soup from EAT! Devastated.

EmmiJay · 29/10/2019 14:47

Oh thats a shame. Loved EAT chicken sandwiches whilst I was pregnant. Them and Benugo were lush.

broomzoom · 29/10/2019 14:51

Eats tuna cheese melt is amazing. 😭

thismeansnothing · 29/10/2019 14:54

Awwww that's a shame. I don't have an Eat. Anywhere near me but it's my treat lunch if I'm ever in Manchester. Love the brothy noodle soup pots.

Blibbyblobby · 29/10/2019 17:27

Ah that's a shame, they seem to have a wider range than Pret

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 29/10/2019 17:30

Gonna miss their pigs in a blanket in the run up to Christmas!

NewPapaGuinea · 29/10/2019 18:10

Bland and expensive for it. Not surprised.

TSSDNCOP · 29/10/2019 18:16

Oh no! Who doesn’t love a Chicken pot pie. Hotter than the surface of the sun but you go in anyway.

CandiceSucksCandy · 29/10/2019 18:31

Yanbu
Pret put avocado in everything veggie.
I hate avocado.

timshelthechoice · 29/10/2019 18:33

They're both bland and over-priced. Pret is shite as well.
