Anyone been to Nice recently? Will be flying in with Easyjet. Do I need to book eg an Easyjet transfer to the main part of Nice or are there plenty shuttles/ minibuses. Will be on my own so don’t want to take a taxi on my own
Thanks! ( Will arrive just before lunchtime ish)

Good thinking to plan ahead. The taxis in Nice are daylight robbery - could easily cost more then the flight!

At lunchtime, the first thing I'd look for from any airport is a normal bus/train/tram to the city centre unless I have luggage that I can't manage easily and then I'd look at a taxi or hire car, which you say you don't want to do and isn't usually practical in a city.

Check the airport website, but normally there's a fairly prominiently signed public transport interchange/stops outside the airport - I've not been to Nice/France, but this has worked fine for me in several Spanish airports including the Canary Islands, Lisbon, Malta, Dublin and probably others that I can't remember. Pre-booked transfers are likely to cost more and usually go round the houses dropping a number of people off, so could take ages.

Then you just use googlemaps or similar on your phone to work out where exactly to get off the bus/tram/whatever etc.

We went to Nice around Easter time and we booked transfers. There was 6 of us. When we went another time, we got a cab as there was only the 4 of us. We got charged €30, and €25 return. We were quite central.

There's an excellent airport bus service. Quite cheap too

westendgirl780 · 28/10/2019 16:32

There are buses easily available. The airport is not far from be city centre, just around the bay.

I think there's a new tram service that takes you into the centre of Nice - we got it to transfer between terminals but I'm sure the other side of the platform was the direction for Nice. We were there in June and it had only opened quite recently.

Nice airport website has details of how to get to (and from) the airport and gives details and prices of the tram route en.nice.aeroport.fr/

annienone · 29/10/2019 04:05

I would suggest the tram/bus service too, very cheap, easy to use and reliable!

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 29/10/2019 04:59

Have you got a lot of luggage? If not you might manage just walking to the nearest train station (nice st Augustin) from where there are regular cheap trains on to nice Ville etc. However I haven't been in a couple of years and I know there's a load of construction work on around the station so Google the route in advance.

The French like to fleece tourists so don't get cab. Their other fun play is to have dirt cheap local buses that are hard to find, then advertise services costing 7 or 8 times the price aimed at tourists. The old 100 bus used to go from the airport everywhere along the coast for €1. They replaced it with a bus costing €8... the locals get the faster & more pleasant train for something like €2.70!

I’m just back from Nice - the new tram will get you to Jean Medicin (then to the Port in December) there’s a stop right outside each terminal. Ticket machine there. 1:50 euros for a single. Or better value 10 euros gives you 10 trips. You poke the ticket into a machine on the tram to validate it - if you need the other tramline (connection stop Jean Medicin) or a bus to continue your journey (within an hour), use the same ticket just revalidate it on the next tram/ bus. Website Ligne d’Azur will have maps and details of buses/ trams and app. Very easy and cheap the tram. There’s only 2 lines in Nice, line 2 which runs west- east from the airport to the port (altho currently only as far as Jean Medicin) and line 1 which has north-south direction. Lots of good local buses too although the whole bus network is having a big shake up in mid November due to the new tram.
Enjoy - I love Nice Grin
