AIBU to have a problem with DH's smelly feet?

He's had his Crocs (I know) on all day and his feet stink. He wears them when he gets home from work and if he sits next to me I can smell his feet and I usually say something. I try to be light-hearted but get the message across. This evening his feet really stank. You could see the dirt on them from the sweat and he wiped it off with a baby wipe. The smell continued. I told him I could still smell his feet and he said "you can't, I've just washed them". His Crocs were still in the room so he put them in the kitchen. We sat and watched tv and I could still smell his feet but said nothing. I went into the kitchen later and the smell was disgusting. His Crocs were in front of the sink. I said you'll have to do something about this, and he got annoyed and asked me to stop going on about it. He said he wiped the Crocs with a baby wipe, there's nothing more he can do and I should stop complaining. Should I just put up with this? Or his he BU to expect me to?

Urgh, that would be divorce from me if mine didn't sort that our PDQ🤢

It might not be entirely his fault, as unless you have SPD, his feet smelling that strongly without layers of sweaty further socks sounds odd. DH did have this problem way back when he was younger & I knew him as a friend. He was notorious for his smelly feet. This turned out to be due to a fungal infection. I'd suggest a trip to tge doctors as treating that, could make a big difference to how easy it is to keep his feet smelling fresh

Owning a pair of crocs is grounds for divorce to be fair.

PhilCornwall1 · 27/10/2019 12:49

@SimonJT I'm with you on that one.

I love my crocs (they aren't the clog ones tho). I am also single 🤔

Why is anyone suggesting the dishwasher when quite obviously the crocs could just go in with the next laundry load? (Or shower, or other hot soapy water...)

PhilCornwall1 · 27/10/2019 13:04

Or shower, or other hot soapy water...)

Or the bin!

Sorry, there is something about them I really don't like. For some reason they really grip my shit. Perhaps I need counselling (thought I'd get that in before anyone seriously suggests it, you never know on here!!).

SleepwalkingThroughLife · 27/10/2019 13:06

If you wash your feet EVERY DAY with actual bar soap and water there is no need for anything to smell. If you then wear shoes, they won't smell. Crocks can go in the machine weekly. Never use non-leather unless they are washable.

People's smelly feet make me heave. It's just revolting laziness.

Bourbonbiccy · 27/10/2019 13:15

You had me at crocs WinkWinkWink burn them !!

But no seriously he obviously doesn't understand a baby wipe will not get ride of the germs and bacteria on his stinky feet.

My hubby has to be told, not very often but still, to wash his trainers. I will tell him his feet stink, he says he's just had a bath and put clean socks on, I say, yes but then put them in stinky trainers....wash the footwear people !!!

Exactly. You wouldn't have a shower and put dirty clothes on again, would you?

OooErMissus · 27/10/2019 18:49

Still bamboozled by someone suggesting a dishwasher to clean shoes (using the term loosely here, clearly), rather than a washing machine....

TomPinch · 27/10/2019 18:52

Does he have athlete's foot?

cushioncovers · 27/10/2019 18:57

I wear crocs at home. I wear them in the shower once a week to keep them clean.

QueenoftheDay · 27/10/2019 19:02

I would literally divorce my husband if he started wearing crocs.

Biggest contraceptive going

satanstoenailsandwich · 27/10/2019 19:04

YABU for not just throwing the crocs in the bin.

Whoopstheregomyinsides · 27/10/2019 19:18

My DH has foul feet and I was just about to post a similar thread. He has some weird pitted skin on heels and they are foul. I’ve asked if he physically washes them and he says he can’t reach- due to back back. Quite defensive he was but FFS. grim no?? Dirty git

funkylittleboatrace · 27/10/2019 19:19

Chuck the crocs In the bin get him a can of Scholl fresh step, maybe a few pairs of sliders you can wash those in the washing machine.

Coliebean28 · 27/10/2019 19:56

Bin the crocs

ViciousJackdaw · 28/10/2019 06:50

@Whoopstheregomyinsides Google pitted keratolysis, sounds like your DH might have this.

DISCLAIMER: Don't look at this if you have that little hole phobia!

mintcorneto · 28/10/2019 07:16

The OP actually made me feel unwell. I would have to divorce

Rubyupbeat · 28/10/2019 07:33

There is no excuse for smelly feet, unless it's a medical problem.
I dont wear socks or tights all year round (except with walking and riding boots) and know this leads to stinky feet, so I religiously spray my footwear and feet daily with odour control spray, it works, along with daily showering, of course.
My friend has stinky feet, they smell like death and when she is at mine , I ask her to wash her feet, it's done in good humour , she will say similar to me, I am a very windy person!

I do have to say the scariest thing about your post is, the fact he wears crocs, arghhhhhh......Death to crocs and Uggs Confused

VeganCow · 28/10/2019 07:55

crocs come up like new when put through the washing machine. So a friend tells me.. Grin

PhilCornwall1 · 28/10/2019 07:57

@Rubyupbeat

she will say similar to me, I am a very windy person!

What does she ask you to wash though? Hmm
