To be worried about my 1 year old DS?

He is just getting over a sickness bug that started on Thursday. He is keeping water down and most food. He had his breakfast and lunch (very bland food) and kept both down. But just now I gave him half a banana thinking he’d be ok as he has been all day and he was sick again! Now I don’t know whether to go back to square one again with not giving anything at all, but he seems better in himself and was reaaally hungry earlier, so much so that he was screaming!

My ds is 21 months and has had a couple of sickness bugs like this, thought he was getting better, only for him to seem to relapse. Make sure hes drinking plenty, and if he is really hungry offer him dry bland things like crackers or toast, a little bit at a time. As long as hes drinking hes fine without food for a day or two. But if he cant keep fluids down either I'd call out of hours for a gp appointment.

I meant to say as well, recovery isn't always a straight line, they can go back and forward a bit sometimes.

I’m sure it’ll settle. These bugs can lurk a bit longer than the usual 48 hours . Make sure he has plenty of fluids and keep up with small amounts of bland food. I’m assuming that he doesn’t have a temperature. If so then you may need to see someone. Might be an idea to chat to a pharmacist who might recommend something like ‘ Diarolyte’ to help with fluids/salt retention.
Hope he’s feeling better soon.

Little ones get over these pukey bugs more slowly than adults. they have immature immune systems. Sorry, he's still contagious so take a lot of precautions. He will fight it off, just more slowly than anyone would like.

He hasn’t got a temp and didn’t have from the start of the illness either.
He hasn’t had diarrhoea with it either. Just vomiting. He’s much more whingey than usual today. My DP has it now too, throwing up and looking very pale and sickly. So only a matter of time before I get it too I guess! Fingers crossed we don’t all have it at the same time.
I’m just giving him bread, toast, breadsticks, rich teas, banana, mashed potato that kind of thing at the moment.
