Does anyone have a Nissan Juke?

I have one coming my way tomorrow, just wandering what it’s like for fuel and stuff. I drive around 400 miles a week. It’s a 1.6 petrol. Also, what’s it like to drive? I know they are small, but space isn’t an issue as it’s just me and my daughter atm. When baby is born I probably won’t bother with a pram as i didn’t with daughter.

"I don't enjoy driving petrol cars"...

HmmBiscuit

What don't you enjoy about petrol? Just curious

Also YABVU for posting in here, what is your AIBU?

Furthermore I agree with the previous poster, the Juke is a ghastly car. Design wise I can't be polite about it, but then take into account the gutless engine and the build quality... yeah. Enjoy.

thereinmadnesslies · 25/10/2019 18:39

Love mine. It’s diesel so I can’t comment on fuel stuff but it’s nippy and surprisingly roomy inside.

MarigoldGlove · 25/10/2019 18:44

I like mine because it's high. Also it feels quite roomy without being too big.

TheWernethWife · 25/10/2019 18:57

We have a Juke and bloody love it, no kids though

Billben · 25/10/2019 19:04

Good friend of mine has a diesel one. Absolutely hates the car (and never fails to remind you how much). They are also a tall family so it’s a bit of a squeeze now.

BanjoStarz · 25/10/2019 19:22

I think they’re great cars, gadgets will depend on spec level buts it’s difficult to get the same spec at that price point in a different car.

Fuel consumption will depend on whether it’s a pre 2014 1.6 or post 2014

Pre 14 1.6 might be the 187bhp version which is basically a Nismo without the badging or it could be the old 1.6 which is a thirsty slug.

Post 14 it’s the eco engine which is still a slug but at least has better consumption to make up for it.

But like you say, it’s a gift, I wouldn’t turn one down.

frasersmummy · 25/10/2019 19:22

I bought mine in a fog of grief.. Wish I had waited.. Its awful
Its so much worse fuel economy than my previous yaris
It goes through oil like no car I have ever known and it rattles at high speed
And I don't like the gear shift
Hope yours is better

Isitnearlyweekend · 25/10/2019 19:32

I had one for a while. They are quite basic and definitely under powered. I did like the high up driving position. I wouldn’t buy one again.

TheOliphantintheRoom · 25/10/2019 19:44

They're very popular so can't be as bad as the people on here are making out!

Enjoy your new car, OP!

PixieDustt · 25/10/2019 19:55

Personally, don't like them.
Such ugly cars. I think what I don't like are the headlights. It's just so ugly.
I'm sure it will be better than your car atm though!

Junkmail · 25/10/2019 20:00

My husband has one and loves it. It’s diesel so can’t comment on the fuel consumption but it’s quick and powerful. It’s plenty big enough for us inside but I guess everyone has different requirements. Luckily it also sticks to the road really well because my husband tends to drive like he’s possessed 😂

19lottie82 · 25/10/2019 20:07

I drove my friends. I think they’re fugly and horrible to drive, tbh.

SouthWestmom · 25/10/2019 20:14

Well congrats op on getting an upgrade, sounds like it will be a welcome improvement.

There are loads round here, lots and lots of mums driving them so they can be awful. Looked at one and chose a Renault Kaptur instead but it was close.

DrWAnker · 25/10/2019 20:22

Ah all the hate for the Duke!
Love mine, had it for 5 years, it's doing alright.
Boot is small but managed to fit a buggy in no hassle.
No trouble getting baby in and out car seat. Seatbelts are not short?Hmm
However, I'm 5'2" so prefer a high driving position.
Have a 1.6L petrol. Was worried about the 36L tank but can't say I particularly notice filling up more than any of my other cars.
As for sluggishness etc, you can stick it in sport mode but it'll eat the petrol, and I'm not ever on a race track so it does just dandy.
I'd buy another.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 25/10/2019 20:32

I've noticed since we got ours how many there are out there!

MonstranceClock · 25/10/2019 21:51

All of the school mums have white ones. Mines bright yellow! So I will stick out

Longdistance · 25/10/2019 21:57

Aww, lovely that it’s a gift.

They are nicknamed Nissan Junk, but I’m sure it’s fine. I had a Nissan X-Trail. It was very reliable but slow and boring.

Everyone has different experiences with cars. I hope yours makes you happy especially as it’s yellow Grin

PURPLESWAN · 26/10/2019 00:26

I have one and it's my favourite car EVER, it's s diesel so sorry can't comment on fuel economy but it seems surprisingly nifty for a small engine. I drive two teens about in mine, the tallest CHOOSES to sit in the back because he says its really comfy. The storage underneath in the hatchback is very useful, I accumulate tat for the charity shop in it until I get there.... But can still run the dog around. Only criticisms are I miss all the under floor storage lockers my previous car had and the front windscreen pillars are a bit chunky. H keeps taking about changing it next year, it will be like a bereavement

PURPLESWAN · 26/10/2019 00:30

Oh mine is yellow too, us yellow juke owners often smile at each other. You will make lots of small children smile too, sometimes they get quite excited by it... And I swear getting let out at busy junctions is easier in it

Olliemolly · 26/10/2019 03:47

Got a 68plate
The new mark 2 is out now

I love the care, however with. An isofit cat sit you loose the space stright away. The new mark 2 is ment to be bigger.
Boot is big enough we have an oyster 3 pram can get that in with loads of other bits to

I do 18,000 a year 1.6 bose edition.
Fuel I'd say is normal. You can get better.

But over all I'd recommend. Defo get a nissan the amount of tech you get for the price is incredible and drives like a dream eco, normal, sport mode
I normally use normal sometimes the other modes depending I get a out 350miles from £40

honeyis11 · 26/10/2019 23:19

I'm on my second Juke now. The first was a digi t 1.6 petrol and iv now upgraded to a nismo rs. They are really good on petrol and so comfy to drive. I love the high driving position and the onboard equipment. The boot is a decent size with additional space under the boot floor. The negatives are not much space for rear passengers and the visibility when reversing is obscured but with the onboard cameras it's not a issue. It's like a marmite car you either love it or hate it. Personally I love it

Susanpurple47 · 27/10/2019 14:19

Love mine but it's diesel so can't comment on fuel efficiency. Plenty of room boot has a shelf that can be removed for extra space my partner also loves it and it cna shift when needed hope you enjoy yours

TruffleShuffles · 27/10/2019 14:30

My husband used to have one and he loved his. The main problem with it was the small boot so we had to get rid of it and get a qashqai instead.

I’m glad you mentioned about the short seatbelts @Expressedways as I always thought I was just being a bit thick when I tried to put a car seat in my dads xtrail, it must be a Nissan thing.

Hingeandbracket · 27/10/2019 14:42

I must be the only person in the world who likes the look of these.
Never driven one though - out of my price range.

MonstranceClock · 27/10/2019 19:11

It’s nice to drive, I like it so far! Tall cars like this give me really bad backache though, so I need to find a driving position that’s better. I have the same problem in Kuga and Land Rover.
