In work today one of the girls asked me something about a credit card and transferring a balance. I said “oh don’t ask me I have never had a credit card, I don’t know anything about them!” She was totally shocked that I don’t have one (as were the rest of the office!” AIBU to think it’s not THAT shocking!!??

I also doubt the cashback/rewards are as much as some have said. To get £1000 cashback you would need to spend £100k which is beyond most people.

This isn't true of the US credit cards we have. May be true in the UK for all I know.

If you're referring to my post as you mention 1k cashback, I said that was on topcashback not a credit card. The cashback on some purchases can be as much as 15% I think we got over £100 in cashback when we booked our honeymoon Grin

27, never had a credit card (and got a mortgage without any issues). On the one hand, I think it might be useful, but on the other, I would rather not risk borrowing more than I can afford.

I had one for three years or so when I was starting a business. it's paid off now. I never had one before and don't have it any more. I'm approaching 50. I did get a big insurance pay out in my 20s for injuries from a RTA so that gave me a buffer for a long time, otherwise I probably would have had one so it's "luck" not judgement mainly.

I've also never had one... I'm 30 next year.

DH has one but only got it as he didn't have a credit rating pre mortgage. He pays the balance monthly.
