To wear the same perfume as my sister?

She wears CKIN2U and it smells fantastic on her. I really love the way it smells and tried some today. I've never had so many people tell me I smell nice!

(and it's not like I usually stink, I typically wear www.<a class="break-all" href="https://amazon.co.uk/Giorgio-Armani-Emporio-Diamonds-Parfum/dp/B000WZP864)?tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-am-i-being-unreasonable-3725067-To-wear-the-same-perfume-as-my-sister" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">amazon.co.uk/Giorgio-Armani-Emporio-Diamonds-Parfum/dp/B000WZP864)

I feel a bit weird about it and I'm not sure why. Is it weird? Obviously if we were going out together I'd wear my usual.

If it is, any recommendations for a perfume similar to CKIN2U?

It isn't weird to like the same perfume as someone else. Anyway, it will probably smell different on you, due to the different body chemistry.

Pardonwhat · 23/10/2019 13:20

Why would that be weird?

Lovewineandchocs · 23/10/2019 13:20

It’s not at all weird, you crack on and keep wearing that perfume. There will be thousands of other people wearing it, it wasn’t custom-made for your sister. I wouldn’t see the problem with both wearing it out at the same time either. Apparently perfume smells different on different people anyway 🤷‍♀️

QuestionableMouse · 23/10/2019 13:23

Thanks!

I can't explain why I feel weird about it but I do a bit.

If it suits her, it's highly likely it suits you too. Go for it, I say. She'll be more flattered than annoyed and you can sell the idea as being an opportunity for her to borrow yours next time.

I must have a sniff of this one.

SuchAToDo · 23/10/2019 13:25

There's no rule or law to say you can't wear the same perfume as someone else...your sister doesn't own sole rights to wear the perfumeGrin...if you like it and the compliments make you feel good, then wear it...like other poster said, it will probably smell different on you than her anyway

MrsCasares · 23/10/2019 13:26

Don’t feel weird. My dsis liked my perfume Gabrielle by Chanel. I bought her some, and will get her the shower gel for Christmas.

It just means you’ve both got good taste.

Crockof · 23/10/2019 13:27

I think it's weird. I used to wear a distinctive perfume and then my sil bought it and wore it and I just felt weird about it. I changed perfumes and when she asked what I was wearing I lied.
If it's the only one she wears find something different, if she wears loads of different ones then go for it.

BigFatLiar · 23/10/2019 13:29

Maybe you think she'll think you're just copying her. Who cares, if you like it wear it.

Drogosnextwife · 23/10/2019 13:30

That's just ridiculous Crockof. You do realise there are thousands, maybe millions of people wearing the same parfume as your right?

QuestionableMouse · 23/10/2019 13:33

I think that's part of why I feel so weird. I don't want people to think I'm copying her.

To be fair, she does tend to chop and change perfumes where I stick with one.

Why the link to Amazon? Confused

beckyvardy · 23/10/2019 13:39

I'm wearing this today!

QuestionableMouse · 23/10/2019 13:41

Too lazy to type the name out when I could copy and paste. I've just ordered another bottle so had the tab open. 🤷🏻‍♀️😂 Hence the reason why I used some of my sister's.

Going against the grain if I were your sister I would be really annoyed.
I have worn the same perfume for years, never met anyone else who wears it.
If my sister decided to wear it I would hate it.
Perfume is something really personal (disclaimer- yes, I know it is silly and irrational) and to me it would feel as if my sister was stealing my smell Grin.

Have you asked her?

TheMustressMhor · 23/10/2019 13:41

How often are you and your sister in the same room?

I mean, who the hell is even going to know that you're wearing the same perfume?

I don't get it.

QuestionableMouse · 23/10/2019 13:42

On a semi related note, has anyone tried the Glossier perfume? What does that smell like?

OP posts:
Artus · 23/10/2019 13:43

I've never in my life identified a scent another person was wearing. I sometimes think someone smells nice but that's about it. I dont expect anyone else will notice

Good grief. .

CalmdownJanet · 23/10/2019 13:43

What's weird is that fact you thought it was weird 😂 It's not at all, it's a lovely perfume, got for it

SkaraBrae · 23/10/2019 13:50

TheMustressMhor no need to be snide!

I've acknowledged it is irrational- but honest opinion is that it would annoy me intensely.
Sorry for not agreeing with everyone else...

IsadoraQuagmire · 23/10/2019 13:59

Of course it's not weird, unless you're more or less bathing in it, most people wouldn't notice what perfume you're wearing anyway.

Weebitawks · 23/10/2019 14:06

My sister and I always have the same perfume. We have sensitive skin and always wait for the other to wear one for a while to check we're not allergic to it!

Kaykay06 · 23/10/2019 14:16

I love a certain perfume and everyone buys me it as gifts but I usually give my sister some it wouldn’t bother me at all if we smelled the same, In op shoes her sister should be flattered she wants to wear the same perfume. It’s not like she’s buying identical outfits/getting hair cut the same etc.

snowball28 · 23/10/2019 14:21

I should think it would be fine, my DSIS wears a lovely Lancôme one that I was complimenting loads (it really does smell lovely) it’s my birthday next week and she’s text to say she’s got me a bottle, exciting! She doesn’t appear to care that we’ll be wearing the same.
