I love the Winter White Company candle but can not justify their prices sadly.
A lot of them out there seem to have a real chemical smell - can anyone recommend a nice range that won’t break the budget but is also lovely?

These are gorgeous. The rose and oud is my favourite so far thepurecandlecompany.com/

Ah but The White Company now do the oils which for £8 last ages in an oil burner and are exactly the same scent as the candle.

Gorgeous winter oil

try making your own,i do

but the soy wax or any wax,a essential oil and wick burners(i buy the wood crackling ones)and dye and make your own,you can ever add bits in

plenty of recipes on google and diy videos on youtube

i do the same with lotion bars as well

ChestOfFields · 22/10/2019 19:08

The fresh linen ones from b & m are really good

beckyvardy · 22/10/2019 19:10

If you make your own, I have some perfume I just don't wear. Could I pour that into the wax and make my own as gifts for people who do like that perfume? Would that work?

I love the ones from Card Factory in the metallic looking jars. They smell amazing, the fragrance lasts & they are less than £3 😊

AnOojamaflip · 22/10/2019 19:14

Ikea or Penneys do me. IKEA ones are a bit better I think

  • penneys aka primark

Get yourself to IKEA. They are super cheap and smell lovely.

I've looked for scented candles in Tk Maxx before and they all seemed to smell disgusting. I know they have lots of different brands but it seems that they are discounted for a reason!

I can't believe so many people saying St Eval! I adore Bay and Rosemary so much that I bulk buy- works out about £7.50 a candle and they last ages. You can smell it as soon as you walk in the door even unlit. Phenomenal. I tried Sea Salt, which is nice, but for me not a patch on Bay and Rosemary.

Otherwise Sainsbury's Amber and Quince or Marks's Calm from Apothecary range are both lovely.

Hanraa1 · 22/10/2019 19:20

I second TKmaxx. I also love the white company winter one and have got some lovely similar scents from there at a fraction of the cost.
I also once got a neom candle there but I don't think that will ever happen again!

historysock · 22/10/2019 19:45

Sand and fog (from TK Max-not full price) never had a bad one.

I'm not sure about that as perfume has ethanol in it I think, and it could explode affect the way the candle burns?

historysock · 23/10/2019 15:42

Aldi have started doing one called no22 -sweet almond and macaroon now-its lovely though though the packaging is bit too unicorn effect for me-

beckyvardy · 23/10/2019 18:00

Thanks lol I don't want exploding candles!

katkit · 23/10/2019 18:33

if you can wait, go to to the Boots sale- the day in Jan/ Feb when everything is reduced to about 75% off. Boots stock some good, obscure brands.

NowhereNearTheHighSt · 25/10/2019 23:47

Good bargains in tkmaxx
Www.Cocofour.com have a lovely cocoa and patchouli
www.cantocandle.com have a lovely Winter Orange which they do as an advent candle too

Every town will have at least one artisan candlemaker. Why not help a small business out and shop local.
