to think DP should be more understanding/sympathetic?

On Sunday, me and DP moved loads of heavy furniture into our newly decorated bedroom including getting a 9 stone mattress upstairs.

Yesterday and today I've been in bloody agony. My back feels like I've done 100-solid hours of boxercise, my arms are like lead weights, and my legs are stiff are a board.

I can't walk around properly and sitting down/getting up is a whole other ball game.

DP has no sympathy and has even gone as far as suggesting I'm exaggerating. Just because he isn't in pain or isn't aching. But, he does weight lifting three times a week and is much much bigger than me anyway.

So, AIBU to think DP should have far more sympathy for me and should bring me tea and snacks on demand ?

Yeah he should be sympathetic
Is he usually kind to you when you're unwell?

crosser62 · 22/10/2019 10:43

He could at least get you a couple of paracetamol and a nice brew.
Other than that, crack on buttercup, no one likes a whiner.

@Shoxfordian When I'm really unwell, yes, he's very kind to me.
When I've just got a bit of a cold or whatever then, no, not particularly.

He needs solid clinical signs before he has any sympathy for anyone, ever. Grin

@crosser62 I haven't been whining about it, I just can't bastarding walk or sit down properly so DP's eye rolling at me and accusing me of exaggerating.

I get you OP. I dip in and out of exercise, and the day after doing a few squats or whatever for the first time again, my arse and thighs feel like they're on fire and I can't sit down! But I feel good about that 'cause it was on purpose Grin

Have you got time for a hot bath? It helps the aching sometimes.

StiffCock · 22/10/2019 10:54

@PennyNotSoWise I had a hot bath last night which was lovely. I think DP thought it was a dramatic statement bath. Twat.

I'm going to have another one this afternoon before DP gets home.

A 9 stone mattress?

Lovemenorca · 22/10/2019 10:57

Have you not been able to go into work as a result?

Aching and stiffness after heavy physical exertion is not 'unwell' and if you don't keep moving it will just get worse. I'm afraid I'm with your DP on this one. I had similar aches and pains recently as a result of stupidly going to a personal trainer for the first time ever the day before we went on a holiday that involved a lot of walking and sightseeing and every time I had to stand up or sit down, or worse, climb some steps, it was hellish. But I didn't expect to be fussed over. It's muscle aches, not illness!

StiffCock · 22/10/2019 10:59

@Lovemenorca Yep, when we moved it we found it had the original delivery sticker on the bottom which said it was 57kgs Shock

I'm working from home. I could've gotten into work but it'd have been sore and taken me bloody ages Grin

Put some Epsom salts in hour bath.

The dude at our gym says the best thing for aches like that is a cold bath. Never heard of it and I'm not that brave Grin

StiffCock · 22/10/2019 11:01

@gamerchick Oooh, good idea. I've got some lurking around somewhere.

Cold bath?! What madness is this?!

Best thing for aches like that is to move sadly (I lift as well). But that's easier said than done. Tell him that if he's not more sympathetic you're going to dedicate the next time he's suffering after a lifting workout to repeatedly poking him in the bicep/pectoral every ten minutes.
