AIBU to expect my post NOT to be put inside my dirty rubbish bin?

I just spent over £200 in buying Elemis cream and over £130 buying UGG boots. Hermes delivered them last week and despite contacting QVC I am having difficulty in getting them to collect them for replacement never mind a refund. AIBU in expecting my purchases costing over £300 to be delivered to my door as QVC told me it is common for their items to be put inside rubbish bins instead of a redelivery being provided.

Are they damaged? I'm quite pleased when our postie hides my stuff in an (empty) bin as a redelivery is very inconvenient!

I usually ask for deliveries to be put in my wheelie bin if I am not at home. It saves waiting another day for the parcel and if the wrapping gets dirty it hardly matters as the stuff inside is still pristine.

I ask for deliveries to be put inside my green recycling wheelie bin. Not as gross as a regular bin!

YANBU.

Some people might ask for it. Most people don't, not least because the parcel could well be delivered on the day of the bin collection.

Delivery drivers shouldn't be dumping parcels where-ever they feel like it. Or skipping deliveries and lying about it, or any other of the other shenanigans that happens all the time. But faced with unreasonable targets and demands by their own management, that's exactly what many drivers do.

I had this today, huge parcel left inside my absolutely filthy blue bin, amongst all the empty vodka bottles Blush

How do they know if it’s rubbish day anyway?

Tarano17 · 21/10/2019 19:36

The thing is the last time QVC did this it was bin collection day and my items were collected by the bin men! I then had an almighty battle with QVC to get a refund as they claimed their system showed “delivered” and they believed putting my items on the bin collection day was my fault for not being home. After many weeks fighting their refusal to provide a refund i did eventually get a refund but I also had a busting headache for several weeks and was totally stressed out by it. In fact I told them to never put stuff in my bins again and that in future they should do a redelivery or provide a card for me to collect them from a local outlet. Over a week has now gone by and QVC are refusing my request for a refund. They were put inside my green bin which is absolutely filthy and I don’t see which I should meekly accept UGG boots and facial cream that was put in a filthy stinking bin. I can’t bear the thought of putting the £200 Elemis cream on my facez No No No No.

Hermes once delivered my Hotel Chocolat order into my household waste bin. It was filled with dog shit bags from our two huskies! They weren't bothered when I complained. Hotel Chocolat replaced by £60 order but weren't amused.

AthollPlace · 21/10/2019 21:26

Usually the drivers are local so they know what day the bins get collected. It doesn’t bother me as long as the stuff inside the parcel is dry and undamaged. Unless it’s food, I wouldn’t want to eat that after it had been in the bin.

I suggest informing QVC that you are cancelling your order under the Consumer Contracts Regulations. Your reason for cancelling is irrelevant to this. You make arrangements to return the goods unused and they refund the money.

Igotthemheavyboobs · 22/10/2019 02:55

I'd stop purchasing from QVC, by the sounds of it their customer service is awful!
