2 duvets in one slip?

We have 2 duvets on our bed. Pretty much always have. Due to changes in the house our room is now like an ice block. Rest of the house lovely and warm.

Don't spend much time in our room, just getting into and out of bed really so have bought 3 body length water bottles to heat the bed. My Mum has kindly bought me a fluffy fleecy duvet set too.

I want the fluffy one to be on show, but then defeats the object as it will be on top of a cotton covered duvet slip.

So can i reasonably put 2 duvets into one slip, or will it all end horribly?

I would think it'll be fine. Try it and if they bunch up try eBay etc for clips for keeping them together. Enjoy the fleece bedding, I can thoroughly recommend it.

You can buy duvet sets designed like this - a 4.5 and a 9 tog, that popper together to make a 13tog.
Worth a go, and as above, I'm sure you can buy something to clip them together if they bunch too much.

Bulldog clips if nothing else?

We have one of the sets and we use both in one cover. It's fine, they don't clip together or anything but they behave themselves impeccably.

This is 2 x 13 tog duvets. Not clip together thingy whatsits.

Sew them together at all four corners. We used to do this!

I sewed a small length of tape onto the corner of each duvet then tied together the four corresponding corners. It works for me.

DS has two popper-duvet, as described above. He has mangled one of the poppers so as a temporary measure about three years ago I just used a safety pin instead.

If you use tape then you can un-tie and wash each duvet separately, which your washing machine may thank you for.

cjt110 · 21/10/2019 14:37

so I could use a ribbon or some such @senua?

I used a bit of cotton tape. Something like this.
Ribbon can be tricky: if it is too sateen-y then it is slippy and un-ties itself.

How cold is it in your house? Blimey don’t envy you 2x 13 today quilts hot water bottles. Brrr

put a blanket or similar UNDER your sheet. in a cold house, you can lose a lot of heat downwards, so extra insulation below the person sleeping will make things feel much warmer.
