To worry DD might choke in her sleep?

How rational is this worry....

My 5 yr old DD has had a tummy bug today. She’s vomited 3 times. She’s had a mild temp and tummy ache.

She stayed awake all day and went to be at the usual time. Ate less than half a bagel about 3 hours before going to bed and then a few mouthfuls of weetabix just before bed. She demanded this food because she was starving. I’d have preferred it if she went to bed on an empty stomach. I’m now lying here paranoid she will vomit in her sleep and choke on it.

I’ve checked on her several times and she’s fine.... but still the worry is there.

Tempted to get her in bed with me.

AIBU?

Bring her into bed with you.

I'm sure she'll be fine but it'll put your mind at rest.

Yes I will have to. I’ll be wide awake all night otherwise!

Thank you @blacktiger! Think I just needed someone to agree I’m not over reacting!

Yes definitely put her in your bed. But lay her on lots of towels and have a bowl next to the bed - it's not fun changing a double or king sized bed in the middle of the night! Hope she's better soon

nowifi · 19/10/2019 21:59

Defo in your bed no question! Hope she is feeling better soon Flowers

I’m pretty sure a five year old would instinctively turn over or sit up if she was sick. If people are really REALLY drunk they possibly can’t, and that’s why it can be fatal.

I’m not a doctor but I wouldn’t worry about my 5 year old choking in her sleep. I would be on high alert though, listening out. If you can put her in your bed (lying on a towel!!) that might put your mind at rest.

Definitely bring her in to bed. I always do when they have a tummy bug. Probably unnecessary, but if it means you relax its worth it.

Into bed with you and on her tummy. Feel sure she’ll be fine but you need to be close to her.

cavycavy · 19/10/2019 22:07

In my bed now..... not done any extra layers or towels yet.... will wait till she’s gone back into a deeper sleep!
It sure she’d sleep lying on a towel so need to try and sneak it under the sheet somehow...!?

Not sure, that should say

I would bring her in bed too, just in case. Hope you both sleep!

BrutusMcDogface · 19/10/2019 22:11

Why won’t she sleep on a towel?!

You could use a fleece blanket if you have any knocking about?

blacktiger · 19/10/2019 22:17

Hope she's feeling better soon

cavycavy · 19/10/2019 22:24

Ok, layers are sorted! I was like a ninja!

And now.... relax!

I would have brought her in with me too. Ds is 16 months and if hes poorly he either sleeps with me (though hes a wriggler so doesnt always work) or I sleep on the floor in his room. I'm less anxious and he has me on hand if he feels poorly, best or both worlds.
Hope she feels better.

AnyOldPrion · 19/10/2019 22:33

Fingers crossed for you. Mine always woke up and cried before vomiting. Hope both of you have a good sleep.

fairybeagle · 19/10/2019 22:59

Came on to say same as posters, into your bed. Had to do the same with my little one a few weeks ago. Always better safe than sorry. And also you will get more rest with her by you x
