To never fly long haul again

I recently went on holiday for a week. The flight was eight hours long and so uncomfortable - economy class seats have very little leg room/space and it’s almost impossible to get any kip.

I’m now back home and the time difference is killing me - I had two hours sleep on the plane and have been in bed all afternoon drifting in and out of sleep and feeling very achey, sneezy and generally crap. I’m also 12 weeks pregnant, which I’m sure has made it 10 times worse (has anyone else found that it does?)

AIBU to just stick to UK holidays and short haul from now on? There are so many amazing destinations in Europe just a 2-3 hour flight away, not to mention the reduced (admittedly still bad) impact on the environment of only flying short haul. As it is, I feel like I’ve come back from holiday more exhausted than when I left!

Why would you longhaul just for a week anyway? Nobody's making you go long haul..

We did long haul for a week once for a funeral. 26 hours each way and 5 days there. Jetlag was hell.

Longhaul
For a week on the same time zone Is quite doable - eg the overnight flight to Cape,Town

I’ve flown to Australia a few times. When I was younger it was ok as was a little adventure!
My mum emigrated there and I did a week in Australia, I could only get a week off work, I was fine when I got there it was when I came back I suffered!
The next time I done Australia was when my daughter was 18 months old on my own with her! It was bliss Cos we had the bulk head seats, and the 2 people next to us asked to be moved as they didn’t want to sit next to a baby! That happened on the way back aswell, she didn’t whinge once!! But got the whole row to ourselves!
I plan on going again as my brother is out there, but my kids are 12 and 8 now and I’m worrying about the long flight as I can barley cope with a 4 hour now I’m older! Gotta be done tho!

An 8 hour flight for a week is crazy .

You are kidding right? If it's that bad don't go again..an odd complaint to post publicly.
