AIBU?

To ask if you have theatre tickets for a London theatre tomorrow night

Are you still intending to go?

There is People's march tomorrow during the day and the vote is obviously due tomorrow. Our theatre is on The Strand so close to the 'action' and any potential trouble. We will have DS12 with us.

DH and I have differing opinions (don't want to prejudice the vote by saying which is mine).

What are/would you do please?

Yes. I’m going to a matinee which starts at 4pm. It hasn’t occurred to us to not go.

Of course it's fine. Protests like that are quite easy to navigate round. (I live and work in London)

Why wouldn't you go?!

Why on earth wouldn't you go? One of you is totally overreacting. Not least the march is during the day.

There havnt been any problems at all with previous matches and the crowds will be well gone by the time you arrive - I think it's scheduled for 12-2pm?

Yep, I'm taking my mum to Les Mis tomorrow - no way are we missing it! We're going to walk from Waterloo, leave plenty of time and stay alert, (I work in London so am not so bothered, my mum is a little anxious, but not enough to cancel!).

I’d go without a flicker of a doubt

I work on the Strand. Please do go, although it’s fairly near Westminster the protestors do not stray into that area. Even the Extinction Rebellion camping out in Trafalgar Square had little effect - just on local buses.

We ran into a protest march in Hamburg once with DS aged 8. Police were on standby with water cannons. We just went around the other way.
I'd still go.

Great, thanks, this is what I was hoping to hear (it's DH who is worried).

We will be getting a train in and out of Charing Cross but hopefully it will all be over by the time we get there.

Thanks for all replies, off to show DH the thread Smile

Think it's you that is worried OP. No need to be.

It's not particularly close to the "action" and there's unlikely to be any trouble anyway. I'd definitely be going.

Yes, why wouldn't you? It's not a war zone

I was at the last march. Fun and peaceful did not see any problems at all.

It really isn't @claireS79

It's fine. I had to walk through the protesters at Trafalgar Square the other day. They were all sitting around eating free lentils from the Hare Krishna trolley and some of the kids were dancing. It felt like a music festival not a protest.

At the price of theatre tickets, it would never occur to me not to use them.

We went to see Hamilton in March when there was another protest on. The only problem we had was finding somewhere to eat because all the restaurants were full of people who had been marching during the day Grin

Definitely go. I’m off to Falsettos a week tomorrow with the kids. I’m glad it’s not tomorrow as timings are tight with trains. but there is no way we wouldn’t go.

Definitely go. Just allow a bit more time. And remainers are peace-loving people, it'll be fine!

How did it go?
