To expect old school to hand out test results to me

I've moved schools and requested some test results from the old school which were externally marked. The old school have said they do not release the test results to parents.

Can I get them or can the school refuse? I find it a bit odd as it's my dc's results.
I would like to have them to see what dc was at in their previous year to compare to this year.

How old is your child and what were the tests for?

If your child is over 18 they (your child) need to give permission for the school to disclose them.

Thanks it's a test they take to indicate their future GCSE results I don't actually know the name. I think I will do some more digging and find out.

Do you mean CATs?

If so they wouldn't really change year to year unless your child suddenly took a great cognitive leap forward.

They are more of a cohort indicator than individual anyway.

You definitely have the right to request this - it's your child's data so you can request it and they have to give it to you within a certain time frame.

Alternatively, they would probably share the information with the new school anyway, so perhaps you could ask the new school if they have requested or received it?

Thanks @fizzicles that's basically what I was asking so I can go back to them and say this
