Making myself sick with worry & anxiety

I have been referred for a mammogram as doc found a lump in my boob. I’m driving myself mad with worry & stress and not sleeping. I also think constantly prodding about has made it all worse as lump feels ‘harder’ than it did earlier in week but I am on day 19 of my cycle so have sore boobs anyway.
Please help- how do you stop yourself googling & driving yourself mad with worry?
Confused

Just stop googling. The lump might seem harder because you're panicked. It might not even be. It might be nothing. How long until the mammogram?

No date yet- just waiting (& worrying) under the 2 week protocols

OP, please don't make yourself sick with worry and panic. It might be NOTHING and you'll be so relieved in 2 weeks. I know it's hard, but please try to be positive about this. Thinking about you! Thanks

@readingismycardio Thankyou! I feel like it’s all I think about from dawn TIL dusk & have been waking up with cold sweats etc. I feel a bit silly but I am naturally a worrier and have anxiety issues so tend to think the worst Sad

It must be very scary but it's far more likely to be something like a cyst or fatty lump etc - good luck

So sorry you are going through this.

There are so many reasons for lumps and bumps in the breast. I recently had my first mammogram and the statistics in the leaflet they sent me were reassuring.

You did the absolute right thing in getting it checked and your GP for referring you on. You should never bury your head in the sand. General practitioners are just that, have a look and send you to the specialist who knows exactly what they are doing. He hasn't got x ray vision and he'd be being negligent if he hadn't.

You should be seen soon, that anxiety of waiting is horrible. I've had scares similar to this, fortunately, it has been ok. I know from experience that Google isn't your friend in this situation, your mind starts racing.

Hang on in there. ThanksThanksThanks

Thankyou 💕
I think my biggest worry is that I have missed something. My boobs felt normal & lumpy to me- there had been no change really but she could immediately feel something and it that which had sent me into a spin I think. She did say she was being over cautious but I don’t know!

Sounds like anxiety is a huge issue for you.

Everythingnotsavedwillbelost · 18/10/2019 06:43

@Yeoldetrout yes, I do have anxiety issues around health

@Everythingnotsavedwillbelost I have a bit of health anxiety myself and general anxiety as well so I can relate, but stress doesn't help you. Think positively, force yourself to believe it's nothing. You've been to the drs and been referred in the right place, you're on good handsThanks
