Have this rash that appeared out of nowhere, haven't changed toiletries, laundry powder or anything... Its really itchy but isn't raised! I've had cream off the Dr which only makes it worse, antihistamine don't seem to be helping and every night I've had an oatmeal bath

Is it on your hands?

Mothership4two · 18/10/2019 01:59

It may be fungal if it is not responding.

I had a rash at the very top of my leg and all the usual creams and ointments just made it angrier. Fungal cream cleared it. Apparently it is quite common for athletes foot to be carried up your leg through contact with your pants.

Where is your rash?

Poppyisa · 18/10/2019 02:00

Is it on the trolley?

Mothership4two · 18/10/2019 02:46

Trolley?

Bluerussian · 18/10/2019 02:51

Apply oil of evening primrose oil to the rash. It'll go.

Poppyisa · 18/10/2019 03:43

It’s a very old skit by the wonderful Victoria Wood, when she didn’t understand what something was.

Is it on the trolley? Can you point to it? Haha

Antihistamine?

FredaFrogspawn · 18/10/2019 05:36

Feet, groin, armpits, under breasts - try an antifungal.

Consider ringworm or scabies.

Do you have any fever? Or just the rash.

Did you eat any allergenic type food? Prawns, strawberries, kiwi, peanuts?

UniversalAunt · 18/10/2019 05:49

Report back to GP.
Some people are allergic to hydrocortisone so standard skin medications will make it worse.
Have swab taken to determine if it is fungal or not.
GP can prescribe stronger anti-histamines than usual over the counter stuff.

Says Auntie who is taking prescribed AHs for ghastly rash which is side effect of essential prescribed meds. No over the counter creams or AHs touched it. Only the new stronger AHs are making a difference.

Laughing at oatmeal allergy. Lol. Been up for an hour with stomach cramps but that’s made me laugh. .
And- is it on the trolley. I’m using that today for sure.
Oh and I’ve no idea what your rash is.

FuriousVexation · 18/10/2019 06:53

"Is it on the trolley" oh god bless Victoria Wood, sadly missed.

If it's in an area in which sweat gathers (under boobs, under any overhanging belly, feet, armpits) then it may well be thrush, in which case try canesten cream. If that doesn't clear it within a week then see GP.

You could also go into your local pharmacy and ask to see the pharmacist in a consulting room - most pharmacies offer this and IME they can be very helpful in suggesting products for the least amount of money! And can be a lot less hassle than trying to get a GP appointment.

Bazingaaaaa · 18/10/2019 09:40

Morning all pmsl at oatmeal allergy 😂 no idea as to why I still can't get a picture attached but oh well... I've been taken antihistamines one every four hours so far they aren't helping much, I'm also on steroids and antibiotics for a nasty chest infection which the Dr thinks may have caused this but I'm not sure... I've been awake half the night and could quite literally rip my skin off its that annoying!

Pityraisis rosea? One particularly big patch?

easyandy101 · 18/10/2019 10:18

Try different antihistamines

Some work for me and some don't, some work for hayfever and some work for a skin allergy that i have sometimes

GameSetMatch · 18/10/2019 10:24

Is it a sweat rash? It’s really hard without a picture

maddening · 18/10/2019 10:25

Have you tried antihistamine cream?

Ugzbugz · 18/10/2019 10:30

Most likely allergic reaction to antibiotics

AlpacaGoodnight · 18/10/2019 10:38

I can't see the pic but I had similar a while ago in the end I needed an antifungal cream due to infection in the rash

Bazingaaaaa · 18/10/2019 11:52

I wish I could show you all a pic but it's not letting me upload one! My whole stomach is covered, legs and ankles... It happened before taking antibiotics so can't be that.
