Parking, was I in the wrong?

I honestly don't think I was but I'm a fairly new driver so maybe I am...

I had to nip back into work this evening to pick some stuff up. No parking spaces in the car park so I parked up on the verge. Only two of my wheels were over the kerb to allow emergency vehicle space on the road as the road is quite narrow. My wheels were parked up on the grass, not touching the pavement and there was plenty of space for wheelchairs and pushchairs. I made sure of this. It wasn't a dropped kerb, I wasn't blocking a drive way and there were no double yellows or anything.
Anyway I was gone for 5 minutes and when I got back to my car a woman came out of her house that I was parked in front of and told me not to park there as she didn't want parking on the grass. I didn't challenge her as she was elderly and I was paranoid I shouldn't have parked there.
Was I wrong?

Usually I follow what others do. If you were the only car in sight on the grass then you should have thought twice. If there's loads then it's understandable to copy.

You can load (and unload) on double yellow lines for up to 20 minutes as long as you aren't blocking the road and there's not also a loading ban (usually marked by yellow pips on the curb). This is for goods that aren't practical to carry from a more distant location, and you should be actively loading during the time - if you're sitting in the building for 15 minutes waiting for something then that's dubious.

With that in mind, maybe there was somewhere better to go.

Put it this way down my road and the next one you have to or emergency services couldnt get through today i fit through a gap ony a medium sized car could fit through

id rather ruin grass than stop someone getting thir life saved

people have put rocks and/or posts into the grass verge to stop the grass being churned up.
these selfish idiots should be reported to the council asap. If someone damages their car because of them littering, as the grass doesn't belong to them!, they are responsible.

Roads are to be driven on, not parked on blocking the way. What is antisocial is to block the road, not putting 2 tires on a bit of grass.

this, a million times this.

No need to become childish and threaten to tarmac everything,

I would have done the same. Yes, sometimes I put my personal comfort and ease above worrying about a grass verge.
