If you worked with a colleague who emulated your words and actions at work to the degree that specific phrases were becoming obvious, would you be flattered or think it was weird.A colleague who wanted their actions validated, almost looking for praise and guidance when there is no need for guidance.Colleague is very capable and knows it.what would you think?

A self-esteem or fear of failure issue, could try some personal effectiveness training or working with them in a different way i.e. supporting them to be more independent

Some people ‘mirrors language and mannerisms. I do it, it’s completely involuntary. I hate to think that people notice it but they must do. I try to avoid it as much as possible but it’s a knee jerk reaction for me.

Thanks.I am very supportive and always congratulate him on his work endeavours. I cant help but feel a bit creeped out at times though. Maybe its just me.He has recently rang me to ask how he handled a certain issue, a couple of hours earlier, that I had to be present for.I gave the feedback, very positive at that time , but he still rang a couple of hours later to ask my opinion and apologized for bothering me.Weird?

They might not know they are doing it.

Ys he does mirror my words and phrases and even my body language. A lot.Perhaps it is from working so closely or perhaps I am hyper aware.I am not his senior.

I think that you are right.I don't think he is aware that he does it.I get a little uncomfortable it with it at times though and i didn't understand why.

@cloudythoughts I've never come across anyone who mirrors my actions. Saying that I do tend to pick up accents when I'm speaking to people so guess this is in a similar vein. Could he have anxiety? It sounds like to me it could be an anxiety thing - Eager to please etc
