Misspelling of kids names - I don’t get it!

I’ve got a couple of friends who on WhatsApp or messages will persistently misspell kids names even when I have literally just written it I don’t get it! Anyone have this? Anyone shed any light?
Eg.
Me: thank you, Eloise would love to come.
Friend: great! Glad Elouise can make it!

Me: would you be able to give Sophie a lift?
Friend: sure! No problem we can take Sofie

Me: do you know if Eleanor is going?
Friend: no, not sure about Elinor.

????

I get it when you’re writing a first message or in a card or something, but when you’ve literally just read it??

Grammarly is no good for kids' names though!

DP's mum insists that my name is Catherine not Katherine. (not real name but similar, one letter off.)

Every year she texts DP to confirm my name spelling for the family calendar / personalized Xmas ornament / embroidered towel that I will receive that year...
Every year he confirms it's Katherine...
Every year she has a strop about it and says it must be Catherine, he must be wrong. Sigh.
I have started to get things spelled correctly recently though... baby steps.

At work it's often misspelled but folk do eventually catch themselves and are mortified. The big boss of our section told me off (nicely) for not pointing out that he was getting it wrong. But I never say anything about those errors - they're really not that important.

My DS's name is one that has a classic English spelling but also many other spellings in other languages. I named him with the classic spelling but then we emigrated to a more mixed cultural area and it's a disaster tbh. Every spelling and pronunciation under the sun.

There are members of my husband's family who repeatedly spell my eldest daughter's name wrong, despite having been corrected multiple times over the last 21 years. They will spell it incorrectly on her social media when her name is right there for them to copy! Hmm
The same people insist on shortening my name which I absolutely HATE but apparently their desire to be "affectionate" trumps my wish to be called by my actual name.
We've given up really.
