I have a 15 month old Hoover tumble dryer which stopped collecting water. I agreed to pay for the fixed price service visit for an engineer to come. He diagnosed the problem as the machine not getting hot enough- it is a heat pump model which is supposed to get up to around 20 degrees above ambient temperature and after half an hour, the temperature had climbed by 6 degrees. He said that the problem can't be repaired!
The appliance supposedly has a 10 year parts warranty and I can't see any excluded parts.
As I understand it, any consumer rights I have need to be enforced against the retailer (a small local shop) rather than Hoover which doesn't seem fair, and rely upon me proving that the fault was there from the outset.
Has anyone got any advice about how best to pursue this? The machine cost over £600.
