Not sure what to do about missing bumble bee....

Okay, not sure what I should do next.....

Was sat quietly on my bed and heard a buzz... looked over and saw a massive bumble bee stumbling around on my bedside cabinet!

Went to the bathroom quickly and picked up a plastic cup plus a piece of paper to do the old cup and slide trick and rescue it from my room but somehow it slid down when I put the cup over it.....

It’s slipped down between by bedside table and the table of books/junk etc and stopped making a noise....

I’ve pulled everything out, used my phone light and I can’t find it anywhere!!!

So I guess my AIBU is , AIBU to think it’s either magically disappeared or died and vanished and will never reappear??

(Or will it come out when I’m asleep and sting me to death!!!)

Maybe just quietly hiding unless by pulling everything out you've killed it. How annoying though, if your anything like me I won't relax until I know Shock

fourfuckssake4 · 14/10/2019 21:53

I would be on edge that it might get brave around 1-2ish 😉

delilahbucket · 14/10/2019 21:53

It's probably very tired. I would find it and feed it. It probably won't want to go outside at this time of night so maybe shut it in a room you're not using overnight and let it out in the morning.

Itallt0omuch · 14/10/2019 21:55

Poor thing. They're looking for a place to hibernate around now and it's obviously got lost. It's not going to sting you. It's probably going to die wherever it's got to.

gettingbacktoresearch · 14/10/2019 21:56

I would love to shut it in a room I’m not using but it’s my bedroom and I should sleep at some point tonight but am thinking @fourfuckssake4 is tight and it’ll get brave at 2am and I’ll wake up eye to eye with it!

gettingbacktoresearch · 14/10/2019 21:57

Right not tight!!

I wanted to rescue it @Itallt0omuch and help it find somewhere safer but it’s disappeared Sad

While you are distracted looking under books his mate is downstairs pinching your iPhone and your car keys.

ScribblyGum · 14/10/2019 22:03

Well know phenomenon that bumble bees become thieving bastards in October. They can’t help themselves.
Couple of them last year pinched my windsurfer off the top of my car.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 14/10/2019 22:07

I understand you fear. However a bee will never sting you for no reason unlike bloody wasps. So He’s not going to come and get you in the night. I’m not suggesting you try it, but i believe you can pick a bee up and stroke it.
Obviously you don’t just grab them.
There has to be a special technique.
Just be aware when you’re getting out of bed that you don’t stand on him

Aroundnabout1 · 14/10/2019 22:08

Id b sleeping on the couch. No question.

gettingbacktoresearch · 14/10/2019 22:47

Is this just a ploy to move in rent free for the winter? Will I come home to find it’s ordered movies off Amazon prime and eaten all my fruit?

I would be the same OP, I have a strict no wildlife in the bedroom rule Wink could you make up some sugar water and put some out in a saucer to try and tempt it out for its hiding place?

TheQueensCorgi · 14/10/2019 22:59

My dog was going mental today, went upstairs to investigate and I had a bird in my bedroom flapping all over - a bee would have been preferable!

It maybe has hidden in the spine of one of your books?

gettingbacktoresearch · 14/10/2019 23:00

Yay!!! Just went to go to bed and he was sat waiting for me (in my bed!!!) isn’t he a beauty! I’ve now relocated home outside with a piece of banana (no idea what they eat....) Grin

Thank you @Tortoiser had forgotten that. I did carefully put her on the table under a parasol so she won’t get wet

OP posts:
Tortoiser · 14/10/2019 23:09

She probably wanted you to hold the brolly!

Louisa111 · 15/10/2019 22:26

Glad you found the bee, was it still around this morning? Hopefully it flew off and was ok Smile
