WWYD school lunch ‘problem’

More of a WWYD than AIBU for traffic really!

DD (8) came home from school today and said she hadn’t eaten all her packed lunch because her bread roll had a bite out of it. WTF!

She asked if it was dh playing jokes confirmed it was not. I asked if she was using this as an excuse not to eat it, absolutely adamant it wasn’t that. Packed lunch is kept with others on a trolley in the hall during school hours.

Don’t know what to do now? If anything?

In my school we would give a school meal if a childs lunch had been eaten by another child

I dunno, I guess I wondered whether school should be informed? If there’s a child going hungry or not catered for, I’m sure they’d like to know

I get the shivers when I remember that poor little Polish boy who was starved to death, who was seen stealing food from other children at the school :(

I don’t think anyone is joking about those poor little kiddies. Just trying to raise awareness of how a seemingly small thing could be an indication of something serious and shouldn’t be overlooked. Nobody wants another tragedy.

It is definitely worth a mention. I once taught a child who would take just small bits of food from different places so as not to get 'caught'.

Thankfully the child was noticed early on and measures were put in place to feed and support the child.

Also, my DD is the kind of child of who wouldn’t say anything, she’d just eat the rest of the lunch and mention it to me at home time.

This happened to me at school. Me and another kid had matching scooby doo lunch boxes, one day he took mine by mistake. When I found him to trade over he had already eaten half of my turkey ham and cheese spread sandwiches. Was a very sad day for me. You should really put a trigger warning on this post OP, I’m having flashbacks

Was it like a six pack of rolls that are joined?
I find sometimes they don't always break evenly so there can be a bit missing.

Agreed it really wouldn't do any harm to mention it but it could do harm if you don't xx
