To hate door to door selling/charities?

I like to make decision about things in my own time and so really hate being pressured to sign up to things in my door step. Yes, I know the solution is to not answer the door or engage, but I don’t like to just ignore someone knocking.

Just recently someone came, selling one of those food delivery schemes and since it was a product I was interested in, the women managed to talk me into signing up. The annoying thing is that they never want to just leave the information with you. So she pressured me into signing up on the spot. In the past I have also signed up to various charities. I have told myself that from now on I will just respond with a firm “I don’t sign up to things on my door step”.

You can get door stickers/signs saying no cold callers.

Maybe I should get one of those although I associate them with very elderly people!!!

Sign on my door reads:

NO JUNK MAIL
NO CANVASSERS
I do not BUY or SELL at the door
I will not sign ANY CONTRACTS
I do not want to change my ENERGY SUPPLIER
I do not want to discuss RELIGION

It does the trick. I don't get bothered by door knockers/JW etc. I do get junk mail that's included in free newspapers though.

I had the RSPCA do this recently, the guy was acting very strangely and made me suspicious he was not genuine so i called them to confirm and they said he was, they apologised and have marked our street up as not to be visited (their idea not mine). Similar happened to my mum as well.

Keep a glass of cold piss by the front door.

JK, obvs.

That's what I do. It's not hard, I've never had anyone argue the toss or try to keep the door open - though perhaps it helps that there's usually loud barking from behind the inner door which sounds like a big dog though actually is an elderly dachshund.

If they open their chat with 'How are you today?' I always say 'Fine, thanks SO much for calling to ask!!' And then shut the door.

Can’t stand door to door people! I try to ignore the door when I can but sometimes they catch me off guard and I answer without thinking. The latest one was a couple of idiots who, first off caused my dog to go off the scale barking and growling and then when I tried to open the door, whilst holding dog back ... they jumped into their sales pitch when they could clearly see I was struggling to prevent an angry fucking Doberman from eating them!! When I said I wasn’t interested and had to get the dog back inside they still carried on trying to sell their shit. It pisses me off no end.

I've never 'gotten' a door to door person. Whether it's canvassing, someone trying to sell something, missionaries...

Hm. I wonder how we keep them away? Or maybe they simply assume that we wouldn't be interested anyway?
🤔

Some are very good, ie unbelievably persistent, with their sales technique. I say what’s your website I’ll check it out online.
