To be annoyed they went for breakfast without me?

Me and two friends went away for the weekend on Saturday.
They picked me up at 9am and said giggling they had just been to McDonald's for breakfast.
The McDonald's is only 5 min drive from my house and they didn't think to pick me something up or even pick me up and then go.
They sat in the car park and were late picking me up.
I know it's something not even worth thinking about but it's just a bit meh.

It was probably a spur of the moment decision and they probably thought at 9am you'd already have had breakfast.

Lweji · 14/10/2019 11:34

Did you say something?

I wouldn't get annoyed, but would tell them that next time I'd like to be warned/invited.

thisneverendingsummer · 14/10/2019 11:40

@simplesimonee

Bit of a first world problem, but I would have been slightly irked too.

I don't like being left out. It puts me in mind of school when I was left out of things, friends fell out with me and I was left alone, and I was picked last for rounders and netball etc...

YANBU to be a bit hurt.

finn1020 · 14/10/2019 11:41

Be grateful, it’s gross. Hope your car trip didn’t end up smelling of McDonald’s farts.

NoSquirrels · 14/10/2019 11:41

I presume you had a good weekend overall? It's just that if you're still thinking about this now, it must be a symptom of the rest of your friendship with them.

What I mean is, just getting missed out for breakfast at McD's is no big deal. If it happened, most people would go "Oi, why didn't you text me? I would have loved a egg Mcmuffin!" and they would have apologised for being thoughtless and you all would have moved on.

But perhaps it touched a nerve and is still bothering you because you feel you're on the edge of the group constantly - could that be it?

AryaStarkWolf · 14/10/2019 11:43

Yeah I agree @NoSquirrels

Witchend · 14/10/2019 11:43

You know, if McDs was 5 minutes from your house then I wouldn't have asked you because it could well be seen as them angling for you to provide breakfast.
How far had they come before you? I suspect it was a spur of the moment thing. "I'm starving," "I didn't get breakfast before I left." "Oh look there's McDs let's just nip in there."

EmmiJay · 14/10/2019 11:44

Wicked buggers. That would sting a little too. Should have said, "Hope it gives you both the trots😌"

Stuckinanutshell · 14/10/2019 11:45

I’m always a bit bemused by the incredibly zen people here to say to forget it and have a ‘fucking hell grow up’ attitude.

I totally understand how that would irk you! The restaurant is right near you and it’s Inconsiderate not to get you or offer to get you something.

I wouldn’t comment on it but I DO understand why you would be Hmm ‘thanks a lot guys...’

rebecca102 · 14/10/2019 11:47

People are dying...

singymummy · 14/10/2019 11:48

Of course it was rude of them to not even ring you and say "we're getting Mmacdonalds do you want anything?"

It's inconsiderate and selfish whether or not it was "deliberate" which I doubt it was but I would still be annoyed as I clearly wasn't thought of

AryaStarkWolf · 14/10/2019 11:48

People are dying...

McDonalds isn't that bad

BusterGonad · 14/10/2019 11:52

Why are people focusing on the fact it's a MacDs breakfast? That's not the point. Honestly can no one these days think a bit further then that?
I'd be pissed off and hurt too Op, it's a fun weekend with your mates and already they've left you out of the start of it, regardless of the venue.

Poignet · 14/10/2019 11:53

It was a Maccy d breakfast in a car park, not some major event.

Grin

It was presumably a last-minute decision to nip in and buy some objectively fairly revolting fast food before picking you up and starting the weekend proper. I couldn't get excited about being 'excluded' for this banquet -- unless they then spent the weekend avoiding you and sneaking away to hang out in car parks talking behind their hands over their McShiteburgers.

BusterGonad · 14/10/2019 11:53

@rebecca102 yes they are so stop wasting your time on mumsnet and save the world please!

Poignet · 14/10/2019 11:53

@AryaStarkWolf Grin

gwackywacky · 14/10/2019 11:55

For some people going to McDonalds can actually be a major event you know no need to be snobby

mummmy2017 · 14/10/2019 11:57

You can either be offended or join in the laughter.
People seem to be able to take offence in a room with only themselves in it, I find it so Blooming sad.

Ponoka7 · 14/10/2019 11:57

It was extremely thoughtless not to ask you if you wanted anything.

That's unless you are a preachy, healthy eating type, who would have changed the goalposts on where to go for breakfast.

If you're in a group of three, you don't leave one of you out.

Poppinjay · 14/10/2019 11:58

The fact is was McDonalds is irrelevant.. you were all going away for the weekend and they could have messaged you to say 'Hey let's get some breakfast somewhere before we hit the road'

This ^

If they were really close to your house and getting breakfast amde them late, they must have made a decision not to include you for some reason.

If this was a one-off, I'd put it behind me and assume that there was more to the situation than I realised. I would wonder if the friendship was quite what I thought though.

bringincrazyback · 14/10/2019 12:08

I'd be a bit hurt too and wonder why. Three can be an awkward number in friendships though.

Sedlescombe · 14/10/2019 12:11

I would have demanded that they drive to McD's so you could eat breakfast in the car.

Lilyannarose · 14/10/2019 12:11

I would have just made light of it and casually said, "Ooh you've had a sneaky brekkie without me have you?", laughed it off and not mentioned it again.
They may have then given you some logical explanation such as,
"Oh sorry. We thought you weren't keen on Macs".

Lovemenorca · 14/10/2019 12:12

I presume you had a good weekend overall?

I suspect fact that OP starting a thread whinging about her friends would suggest it wasn’t a roaring success

Lovemenorca · 14/10/2019 12:15

Never ever would my friends do this though
