Dd is having a tea party with her friends at ours after school tomorrow. I've brought all the stuff for them to make jam tarts (their idea) but have just found out one of them can't have dairy. What can I use instead of butter that isn't going to kill anyone and will make half decent tarts?!

You can get dairy free "butter" Most supermarkets sell their own. Alpro definately do one. They are all suitable for baking.

Lovescookies · 13/10/2019 20:18

There are loads of dairy free butters around now.

For pastry you can use stork block in the gold foil (lots of supermarket own brand baking blocks are too). Also the entire Flora range is dairy free now.

I've got some Trex, would that be any good?

Yes I think Trex makes nice crispy pastry. I'm sure it's dairy free/Vegan

There are loads of dairy free margarines. Go have a look in a supermarket in the free from chilled bit. Vitality have one, so do Pure, so do some own brands.

AwkwardPaws27 · 13/10/2019 20:36

You can use olive oil instead of butter.

Generallybewildered · 13/10/2019 22:09

mumwon · 13/10/2019 22:34
