To call in sick for last two weeks?

I've been in my current job just under a year. I hate it. I gave it a good try but I hate it. As is sensible in this sort of situation I applied for new jobs, and got one. Current job have insisted on me working my full 12 week notice period. I've done 9 weeks of it so far more than a week for each month I worked before handing in my notice , I've got one week of annual leave so two weeks left to work.
I cry every morning before going in and every night getting home.
Would I be unreasonable to just call in sick for the last two weeks? Or should I just get my head down and get myself through it? I don't get paid sick leave (statutory) so it would be a struggle but at this point I don't care, I feel like I'm falling to pieces, I've not slept this weekend for stressing about Monday coming again.
My work wouldn't fall on colleagues, it wouldn't change their work load but I feel like I would be letting people down somehow by not going in (this is just a personal feeling I guess it would affect the company slightly).

Get a sick note from your gp

Call in sick tomorrow and then Tuesday and Wednesday, flu? Sickness or diarrhoea?
Then you'll only have Thursday and Friday until a weekend break. Then do your last week and try and enjoy the feeling that you’re leaving, pack up your desk throughout the week, tie up loose ends etc.
This way you’ll not have anything on your record.

If you are concerned about references, you could go for battling through another week, and then 1 week sick. shortish sick periods won’t count against you/raise sny flags, especially not in the middle of flue/cold season

‘Just a matter of hating your job’ 😂 oh definitely can’t see why somewhere you spend majority of the day 5 days a week could grind you down until you can’t face the day, ffs

You are genuinely sick - it's not like you are swanning off to the caribbean for 2 weeks

So explain your distress to your GP, to get a sick note

It's worth using savings if need be - they are for emergencies, which this is

BigChocFrenzy · 13/10/2019 16:37

Don't worry about being signed off for 2 weeks in the flu season - it's not unusual for "proper" flu

When I had influenza, I was off sick for 2 weeks and still groggy when I returned
(I promptly caught another lot for another 2 weeks and it took me 6 months to recover peak gym fitness)

You could get sick note for all 3 weeks and they will pay your annual leave in your last pay anyway so that would give you an extra £100 on your pay for a week sick. (Unless you are entitled to a better sick package at work)

redcarbluecar · 13/10/2019 16:47

If you’re genuinely unwell then of course get signed off. If not, maybe the main question for you is whether 2 weeks off will show up / look bad on a future record. Could you (would it be a good idea to?) put up with it for the sake of your career? does sound tough though to be crying twice a day over a job you’re working notice for.

JenniferM1989 · 13/10/2019 16:55

12 weeks notice is ridiculous for a job you've been in less than a year. They would only be obliged to give you one for less than 2 years service. Tell them to ram it

Msgiggles30 · 13/10/2019 16:59

I'd call in sick for next week give yourself a little rest and then go in for the last week as then you will only have one week to bridge with no pay and wont have to worry about them honouring your holiday pay x

I would call in sick. If it was a nice place to work no way would I but you owe them nothing and you have your references. Find a good series on netflix! Well done on getting out of there!!
